Hello guys, I got a 2 stroke engine oil as a promo and it has some terms I am not familiar with, the only thing I found out is that those terms are used on boat's terms................................
NMMA
TC-W
TC-WII
TC-W3
Thanks in advance TURBO.......................

NMMA = National Marine Manufacturers Association

TC-W= Bio 2 Cycle Engine Oil

TC-WII =two cycle water-cooled, third generation.

What brand oil and what engine do you have?

I ask this question because even though the oil may have the TC-W rating your operator's manual calls for, I've seen issues.

OK it is a long story but this is the info.
Weed Eater model# BC2400 bought Feb 2002 it has almost 300 hours, it was rated as Home Owner equipment suppose to last 50 hours only, but I never used the ratio manufacturer specified, 40:1, I used marine Oil 16:1 ratio, 8 ONZ to a gallon of gas.
Ryobi Model# SS30 Bought on 2006 it has like 30 hours
Craftsman 27cc bought last month, it has like 30 minutes of use.
Craftsman Blow/Vac 25cc bought the same day the trimmer was
Poulan Pro Chain Saw 40cc bought on 2004, it has 10 hours of use.

The thing is, I met some friends on the lawn care business and they were suggesting me to use the ratio manufacturers recommend, 2 stroke air cooled engine oil, but I got better results with marine 2 stroke oil, what results? They over pass the 50 hours of life they were meant to, they smoke like crazy if I don't use synthetic oil.
Thanks in advance TURBO.
This is one of the brands I use, not my favorite 'cause it doesn't smoke....

More oil in the gas mix will lube the 2 stroke better, it will smoke like crazy and no way it passes an emissions test ...LOL:thumbsup:

Thanks JCO, got a few friends that say different, they say the extra oil will make the trimmer over heat, i personally don't think so, I believe more oil, more lubrication, more lubrication less friction, less friction less heat..........math is math lol.

99.9% of the time when the 2 strokes aren't working right around here I pull the plugs clean them and thin out the mix that someone else mixed up, usually works but there is the odd time I have to clean out the carb or swap out plugs......

the more run it it the more you'll know if its right, my grandfather used to drive down the road (Hauling full loads of wood) listening to no music, I asked him one day, he said, you can always hear whats going right and whats going wrong in your engine if you hear it and feel it going down the road, that old man never had a problem with his truck for years.......

Ahh words of wisdom... An engine thats not running right will give audible signals.. A broken conecting rod sounds like a jack hammer....LOL

One potential problem with too much oil is carbon. Unbrunt oil can (and will) form carbon deposits. Carbon on top of a piston can actually catch fire and cause pre ignition, detonation. Carbon can also cause rings to stick, resulting in loss of compression.

Exactly why I love to use marine oil with my trimmers using mixtures of 16:1......8onz to a gallon of gasoline...........using this mixture my weed eater is still running with almost 300 hours of use........

Turbo the hours ratings on those machines are the intervals at which the oil should be changed , not the life expectancy...LOL

hummmmmmmmmmm, lol, I'll read again and will post info, but I am sure the manual said it was the life of the engine, moderate is rated at 150 hours when commercial trimmers are rated at 300 hours.............

Use quicksilver DFI oil, but walmart's Supertech has been sent out to the labs and looks to be good quality oil.
