Bubba Watson sure didn't look as though he was making his debut at Firestone. He opened with a 6-under 64 to build a two-shot lead after one round of the Bridgestone Invitational.
Seven-time champion Tiger Woods looked as if he had never been here before. Woods got off to an atrocious start Thursday on his way to a 4-over 74, his highest round ever at Firestone. It also ended his streak of nine rounds at par or better on the tree-lined course.
Watson, who won the Travelers Championship in June for his first PGA Tour victory, is trying to play his way onto the Ryder Cup team. He was two shots clear of Phil Mickelson, Kenny Perry and Adam Scott.
Mickelson, with a chance to go to No. 1 in the world this week, birdied three of his last four holes.

With Woods playing like an average joe these days, it makes the tour more interesting to watch.....anyone's game now.

I guess what goes around comes around.

yup you are right on. We were so used to him holing out 15 and 20 footers repeatedly and now he's got the 3 footers skating past the cup.

The one thing I don't miss at all......the cameras and commentary following Woods around the entire course meanwhile there's other players that I'd like to watch too.

And then there's the group of morons in the gallery that have to yell "get in the hole" everytime Woods takes a swing, even if it's a drive on a par 5.

Todd, please send me some prozac....I feel a meltdown coming on.
