Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions says a December 4 fight between WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30KOs) may land in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Beltran co-promotes Chavez with Top Rank.
Co-promoter Bob Arum, the CEO for Top Rank, says the Cotto-Chavez fight is likely to land at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Chavez first has to get through a fight set to take place on September 11 against Pawel Wolak in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Beltran says Cotto has already accepted the possibilty of facing Chavez in December, a statement confirmed by Arum on BoxingScene.com a few days ago.
"Cotto has already accepted the fight at Cowboys Stadium, home of the Cowboys of the NFL, which will be the first world championship fight for Julio," Beltran said.
