Never had much luck with Usals. I always used the diseq 1.2 option and just panned east and west and when sat found, stored position. Worked for me

I just set up a SG-2100 moteck h to h motor for the first time using USALS settings
And this is what I did. I take my receiver and a small TV out to the dish when I setup a dish.
First found out what my longitude and latitude is also what my true south satellite is using geosatfinder.com there's lot of sites with this type of info.
I installed a strong transponder on my receiver for my truth south satellite to tune in on.
I installed my longitude and latitude on receiver.
Next I put the motor and dish on to my perfectly plump mounting pole. Lose enough that you can still move mounting hardware east /west. I used vise grips to prevent it slipping down pole.
Motor set to zero. I Set motor elevation /declination angle on motor bracket using the table that came with the dish in the installation guide.
Swung entire setup to the south doesn’t have to be exact. Set up my true south satellite in my receivers setup page motor moves dish to were it thinks that sat should be then I tuned it in by moving entire setup east /west and using the dish bracket NOT motor bracket, moved the dish up or down until I had the best signal I could get. Then I did the same thing with a satellite to the Far East then one to the west filled in the satellites in-between. Had it tracking the arc in about 15 minutes. My have to tweak dish a bite to get it tracking properly.
I first tried with my viewsat extreme 2000 receiver and had little luck. Then I tried my captive works cw600s and it worked perfectly. So it looks like some receivers my not work that well. You my also be able to buy so sort of positioner like they use for c-band but not positive on that one.

Thanks y'all.I just got an sg2100 while in halifax today for 40oo,2 mo old.I have a manual so I can supply technical info but I never got any sleep last night so I can't concentrate on it;nothing makes sense.
Satguy, for latitude 80,elevation=10,declination=8.678(The highest lat listed)
The declination angle of the DISH should be 40*.I gotta hit the hay.G'night

Good price for the motor Trommy
You do sound a little tired
You must be way up north .I had a look at my book and what your saying makes sense.
On one side of motor bracket is elevation angle scale on the other side of motor bracket is declination angle scale. When you move the motor bracket both scales move at the same time so I used one (declination angle) and I ignored the other scale. The dish angle thing guess I ignored also because I just move the dish up or down using the dish bracket and NOT the motor bracket until I got the best signal from my true south sat.

I feel a lot better after a good night's sleep! He's probably got it set up by now but I am new to motors. The manual does state "DiSEqC 1.2..." and the '...factory preset hardware limits are from 70E to 70 W.'
"Setting elevation angle...Adjust the motor elevation angle via the Inclinometer(on the dish?) or the Elevation/Latitude scale on BOTH sides of the motor." I see what you mean now.

I think there saying if you have an inclinometer I just set the motor bracket to declination angle. Off to the dentist to get a cavity filed

My problem is that there is no "0*" or "90*" mark on my dish scale.(Some idiot droped my inclinometer.)I seem to be missing the obvious, but don't I set the declination with the elevation scale on the dish.I guess this should be a new thread??Please feel free to move it.Thanks

I used this chart that came with the motor. I looked up my latitude. Then set elevation angle on the motor bracket according to what table says. Column A. Did not touch motor bracket again. Then I tuned in my true south satellite using the dish up/down adjustments
And by moving the entire setup east/west until I got the best signal. Just like setting a stationary dish. And that was it. It worked almost perfect first time .a little bit of tweaking and that was it.

Thanks alot Paul.I was sure that's what you meant above but the instructions make it sound more complicated.I'm sure I've read where others did it your way too. That's the way I will do mine also but I overdid it yesterday replacing a door with a window causing a 'back attack'.I can hardly walk even with my pain meds.It could settle down by tomorrow. Thanks again for your patience.
