Rafael Marquez of Mexico has promised a spectacular fight when he challenges WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez of Puerto Rico on September 18 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Marquez (39-5, 35 KOs) vs. Juanma Lopez (29-0, 26 KOs) will be the star attraction to celebrate the bicentennial of the Independence of Mexico in Las Vegas.
"The fight against Lopez, who is undefeated and has proven to be a good fighter, will be a very good fight for televsion. And for those who will come to the desert, there is no doubt that they will see a great show," Marquez said. "To fight a Puerto Rican boxer during these celebrations is a honor.
Marquez is working on a perfect strategy with trainer Daniel Zaragoza. There is a lot of strength training involved, such as using a hammer to hit a tire, and sessions with left-handed sparring partners who are provided by co-promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions. Marquez feels confident of a knockout victory.
"I'm going to knock Juan Manuel out before the eighth round. I'm going to work the ring with intelligence and drop shots with damage from the opening bell," Marquez said.
My comments: I personally think juanma will knock him out but thats just my opinion.
