Ok, I've read bigge's thread about vid converters but I've been reading for hours and about wore out google but can not figure out how or where to get newer movies and then burn them to dvd. I registered as a premium member at rapidshare ( and why is that all in German?" but I've read so much my eyes hurt lol. I see people posting new movies in code boxes but have no clue how to save these to burn to dvd. I've also read about a progrm from amerisoft but can't figure that out either...any help appreciated as I'm a total dunce when it comes to this type of stuff. TIA

For movies, search Google for warez sites, there are many of them out there .

Once you find the movie of your choice, download the links and save them to
your PC .

If the files are zipped, they will need to be opened using Winrar or any other
extracting proggy .

Once extracted you will have an .avi video file which can be viewed right on
your PC .

To burn it to a DVD, you will then need to use a convertor/burner program for that .

Hope this helps . http://i33.tinypic.com/op2o8k.gif

Thanks OddJob but this is the part I'm having trouble with..."Once you find the movie of your choice, download the links and save them to
your PC ." I have seen movies posted from rapidshare or hotfile on many sites in code boxes but can't figure out how to save them anywhere. Does each part have to be downloaded and saved independently in the same folder? I can unzip them no problem but then how to convert and burn to dvd that is watchable on my dvd player?

I download most of the new movies from piratebay.org. Most of the new movies are in Avi format from a dvd rip. I store them all on my pc because they are about 700-800 mb's...The quality is decent as long its a authentic rip and not a cam video. I never used rapidshare...piratebay works fine. Just click on the top 100 videos you will see 1000's of seeders...then you know its a good file... You need Utorrent just download the lite Utility....easy to use.

My pc is connected to my Led in my living room...the movies I want to copy to dvd I use a free program called you can find it here. You can download the whole studio it does many things. You can even copy videos from you tube..and convert it to many formats. The studio includes a program called * Free Video to DVD Converter 1.6 just select the video it will convert it and burn it to dvd.

You can play the Avi from your pc if you dont have teh Codec to view the Avi you can download it called Klite....hxxp://www.filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack/

This is everything it does

you can also use jdowloader . with firefox just have the jdownloader program open and highlight the links and they will start downloading one by one . all the files you download should in the jdownloader program folder then downloads sub folder . DVD flick will convert pretty much any format to copy it on to a DVD both programs are free.

Bluesman, I use mainly a single site

http:www.katz.cd find a movie that you want, once you see the list of links ( via rapid, or hotfile...I like hotfile better, imo ) highlight each link, then copy, and open a new tab, and paste addy , download link, repeat for each link, once you have all of them, then extract part 1, ( it will extract all parts on it's own from there) . Once that's done, I use "convertxtodvd" , it will convert format and burn to dvd for you...hope that helps bro..

like socalicarguy, i use jdownloader. it monitors your clipboard, imports the links and checks that they are valid and it also decompresses the archive files automatically after downloading.

with rs, the challenge is to find live links as many are shut down for one reason or another. you can search for rs, megaupload and other server links by just goggling the title and adding rapidshare, or other server name to the search. you can also look around for search engines such as rapid-search-engine.com.

like n3uspeed2, i use torrents, which piratebay.org is a torrent site. my favorite search engine is torrent-finder.com. i use microtorrent as my torrent client.

you will find that many people drop out of the swarm once they have their download complete. the "rule of thumb" is to give back what you get for the system to work. torrents are the p2p (peer-to-peer) programs that get people in trouble because you are sharing the files with many others. so use with caution.

like Bigpineguy i use convertxtodvd for conversion.

i bought a "divx" compatible dvd player (they sell for $40+) to play the avi files so no conversion is necessary and recommended the same for family and friends as you can put 4 movies on one dvd and they play very well. the only difference is you do not have chapters to skip around so it acts more like a vcr than a dvd player.

but in my old age i have a computer in my family room and have found that vlc player plays everything and doesn't worry about region and plays mp3s, avi, dvds, etc.

good luck!

I was going to btjunkie but they want you to pay now, iso hunt is good. download utorrent as a shareware site, this a program when you pick something to download it will go it here (it like frostware kinda). The convertx program will change the file from AVI to mpeg and then burn the disc all in one. Hope this helps

dvd fab is great for copying a DVD . but when you download something its almost never VOB format (thats they way DVDs are formatted) convertx works well and i also use SuperC for almost any type or conversion format . but for simple Avi or divx (wich is the most common format out there downloaded from the net) to an actual DVD i would still have to say DVDflick is the easiest .

I had picked the movie "the expendables". Chaps my axx that i'm no better with Pcs than I am lol. I'm gonna keep at it tho til I get this figured out or take a hammer to my PC, whichever comes first...:grr:

Will DVD Flick also burn the movie to dvd and make it fit right on dvd-r? The file /movie I wound up burning only filled about half the dvd.

one thing that i haven't seen touched upon yet is downloading files only to find they are password protected and the site that posted the links didn't post the password.

i figured this out a few years ago and posted it at hash only to see it posted verbatim at other sites.

to make it as easy as possible:

copy the download link

shorten the link

google what's left of the file and you should find alternate sites and hopefully one of them has the password posted with the links.

so by example:

hxxp://rapidshare.com/files/123456789/PopularMovie

shortened to 123456789/PopularMovie and googled

other sites with this same file name will be listed.

good luck!

yes it will , it basically converts it to VOB files necessary for DVD player playback . (usually files bigger than 4 gigs) you can burn from the program or just use it to convert the files then use nero or other burning software . again for strictly burning dvd player playback only dvds this is the most easiest program i ve came across .

one last thing after you finish with the download play it back on your comp before trying to burn to make sure its complete and not corrupted .

you can select the priority level , but that does not sound right . last movie i did with dvdflick was grown ups it was a dvd screener about 1gig download and the whole process did not take the whole hour . this is on a older comp 2ghz 1gig of memory . even on a older computer theres not reason why it should take that long .

Some files posted are assigned passwords to extract them, be sure to check the thread that you get the links from , and if there is a password needed to extract the files, it will ( or should ) be posted at the bottom of the page under the links...

It sucks when someone posts links and forget to copy the password, but it can and does happen...

I believe what you are looking for are bit torrent sites. (sometimes spelled bittorrent) I often use thepiratebay.org, bitsoup.org or torrentzilla.org. All are free but you need to register for the last 2 and sometimes they don't accept anymore members. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of these bittorrent sites out there. Certain sites require you to maintain an acceptable share ratio. i.e. share back as much as you take. That's the idea behind file sharing. You will need to download a bittorrent client like Vuze (formerly Azureus) or uTorrent. You then download a torrent file (very small file) to a location of your choice. Open this file with a client as mentioned above and save it to a location of your choosing. Movie files can come in a variety of formats: AVI, Dvix, Xvid, Mpeg2 or 4, and fully ripped DVD's containg Audio_TS and Video_TS folders or ISO formats. AVI's Dvix and Xvid are usually the smallest compared to fully ripped DVD's and are quicker to download. Ripped BLU-RAYS are even available but I think a BLU-Ray burner might be required but not 100% sure about that. If you want to play movies from the computer then, in my humble opinion, AVI's etc. have acceptable video quality but don't usually have Dolby Digital (AC3) sound, just stereo in an mp3 format. Go for the fully ripped DVD's or ISO's if you want the surround sound but it's always advisable to check file details about the sound. Likewise make sure it's in a language you understand. Not all movies out there are in English (for example. don't mean to offend anyone whose native language is something else). Burning an AVI,Dvix etc. to a physical DVD is possible but first the avi file needs to be transcoded to support the DVD Standard format or it probably won't play in a stand alone DVD player but lots of these support other formats anyway. The transcoding operation can take a lot of time especially if you have slow PC. A NERO software suite has pretty good apps for transcoding (Nero Vision) and Nero Buring ROM for buring DVD's. Alcohol 120% is excellent for buring ISO's. You can use bittorrent to get these as well.
I'll stop my blabbering now, I know a lot of others have responded to your post with similar info and suggestions. Using some of these bittorrent clients are more straight forward to use than others. If you are using Windows, then an up to-date and functioning antivirus and malware programs are highly advisable. I use Linux so I don't have these issues. I do this stuff all the time. It's quite easy once you get on to it. Need any more help, just ask.

Well I dowloaded the movie "inception" tonight from RS and used convertx to encode and burn it and it burnt the whole movie but only used about 3/4 of the space on the disk and the picture quality really sucks. if the quality is poor it may be a "cam version".

did you try playing the files before converting?

I agree with barry allen. If there are the letters TS or Telesync or CAM in the torrent title then more than likely someone has filmed this with a video camera in a theater and uploaded it to RS. Inception is a 2010 movie and may not have made it to DVD or Blu-Ray just yet. I checked on piratebay and all the torrents for Inception have TS in the title and rapidshare has either CAM or TS. It's always a good idea to read the torrent details to see what the source is. One indication would be the size of the file. Bigger is usually better.
With regard to encoding/transcoding, check out Tsunami Encoder at tmpgenc.net. Have a nice day.

p.s. I use DeVeDe in Linux but they have a Windows version. Go to hxxp://www.rastersoft.com/programas/devede.html and follow the link for the Windows version which will take you to hxxp://www.majorsilence.com/devede.

There are many Warez sites that you can download the full movie. Google Warez movies, then make sure you download the DVD Rip movies or the DVD Screened movies. My other suggestion would be to make sure you have either a Rapidshare account or a Hotfix account to download the movies. The movies will be compressed with either Winrar or Winzip. I personally prefer Winrar which will open both Winzip and Winrar. I have done thousands of movies so if you need further assistance do not hesitate to PM me and I will try to assist you further. Last but not least use Convert X to DVD to transpose and burn the movie.

this site gives detailed information about the names assigned to the movie types and other details you may find useful:

http://faq.programmerworld.net/misc/all-about-movie-tags.html

All About Movie Tags (what Is A Dvdrip, Cam Etc.)

CAM

A cam is a theater rip usually done with a digital video camera. A mini tripod is sometimes used, but a lot of the time this wont be possible, so the camera make shake. Also seating placement isn't always idle, and it might be filmed from an angle. If cropped properly, this is hard to tell unless there's text on the screen, but a lot of times these are left with triangular borders on the top and bottom of the screen. Sound is taken from the onboard microphone of the camera, and especially in comedies, laughter can often be heard during the film. Due to these factors picture and sound quality are usually quite poor, but sometimes we're lucky, and the theater will be fairly empty and a fairly clear signal will be heard.

TELESYNC (TS)

A telesync is the same spec as a CAM except it uses an external audio source (most likely an audio jack in the chair for hard of hearing people). A direct audio source does not ensure a good quality audio source, as a lot of background noise can interfere. A lot of the times a telesync is filmed in an empty cinema or from the projection booth with a professional camera, giving a better picture quality. Quality ranges drastically, check the sample before downloading the full release. A high percentage of Telesyncs are CAMs that have been mislabeled.

TELECINE (TC)

A telecine machine copies the film digitally from the reels. Sound and picture should be very good, but due to the equipment involved and cost telecines are fairly uncommon. Generally the film will be in correct aspect ratio, although 4:3 telecines have existed. A great example is the JURASSIC PARK 3 TC done last year. TC should not be confused with TimeCode , which is a visible counter on screen throughout the film.

SCREENER (SCR)

A pre VHS tape, sent to rental stores, and various other places for promotional use. A screener is supplied on a VHS tape, and is usually in a 4:3 (full screen) a/r, although letterboxed screeners are sometimes found. The main draw back is a "ticker" (a message that scrolls past at the bottom of the screen, with the copyright and anti-copy telephone number). Also, if the tape contains any serial numbers, or any other markings that could lead to the source of the tape, these will have to be blocked, usually with a black mark over the section. This is sometimes only for a few seconds, but unfortunately on some copies this will last for the entire film, and some can be quite big. Depending on the equipment used, screener quality can range from excellent if done from a MASTER copy, to very poor if done on an old VHS recorder thru poor capture equipment on a copied tape. Most screeners are transferred to VCD, but a few attempts at SVCD have occurred, some looking better than others.

DVD-SCREENER (DVDscr)

Same premise as a screener, but transferred off a DVD. Usually letterbox , but without the extras that a DVD retail would contain. The ticker is not usually in the black bars, and will disrupt the viewing. If the ripper has any skill, a DVDscr should be very good. Usually transferred to SVCD or DivX/XviD.

DVDRip

A copy of the final released DVD. If possible this is released PRE retail (for example, Star Wars episode 2) again, should be excellent quality. DVDrips are released in SVCD and DivX/XviD.

VHSRip

Transferred off a retail VHS, mainly skating/sports videos and XXX releases.

TVRip

TV episode that is either from Network (capped using digital cable/satellite boxes are preferable) or PRE-AIR from satellite feeds sending the program around to networks a few days earlier (do not contain "dogs" but sometimes have flickers etc) Some programs such as WWF Raw Is War contain extra parts, and the "dark matches" and camera/commentary tests are included on the rips. PDTV is capped from a digital TV PCI card, generally giving the best results, and groups tend to release in SVCD for these. VCD/SVCD/DivX/XviD rips are all supported by the TV scene.

WORKPRINT (WP)

A workprint is a copy of the film that has not been finished. It can be missing scenes, music, and quality can range from excellent to very poor. Some WPs are very different from the final print (Men In Black is missing all the aliens, and has actors in their places) and others can contain extra scenes (Jay and Silent Bob) . WPs can be nice additions to the collection once a good quality final has been obtained.

DivX Re-Enc

A DivX re-enc is a film that has been taken from its original VCD source, and re-encoded into a small DivX file. Most commonly found on file sharers, these are usually labeled something like Film.Name.Group(1of2) etc. Common groups are SMR and TND. These aren't really worth downloading, unless you're that unsure about a film u only want a 200mb copy of it. Generally avoid.

Watermarks

A lot of films come from Asian Silvers/PDVD (see below) and these are tagged by the people responsible. Usually with a letter/initials or a little logo, generally in one of the corners. Most famous are the "Z" "A" and "Globe" watermarks.

Asian Silvers / PDVD

These are films put out by eastern bootleggers, and these are usually bought by some groups to put out as their own. Silvers are very cheap and easily available in a lot of countries, and its easy to put out a release, which is why there are so many in the scene at the moment, mainly from smaller groups who don't last more than a few releases. PDVDs are the same thing pressed onto a DVD. They have removable subtitles, and the quality is usually better than the silvers. These are ripped like a normal DVD, but usually released as VCD.

http://faq.programmerworld.net/misc/all-about-movie-tags.html

Formats :

VCD

VCD is an mpeg1 based format, with a constant bitrate of 1150kbit at a resolution of 352x240 (NTCS). VCDs are generally used for lower quality transfers (CAM/TS/TC/Screener(VHS)/TVrip(analogue) in order to make smaller file sizes, and fit as much on a single disc as possible. Both VCDs and SVCDs are timed in minutes, rather than MB, so when looking at an mpeg, it may appear larger than the disc capacity, and in reality u can fit 74min on a CDR74.

SVCD

SVCD is an mpeg2 based (same as DVD) which allows variable bit-rates of up to 2500kbits at a resolution of 480x480 (NTSC) which is then decompressed into a 4:3 aspect ratio when played back. Due to the variable bit-rate, the length you can fit on a single CDR is not fixed, but generally between 35-60 Mins are the most common. To get a better SVCD encode using variable bit-rates, it is important to use multiple "passes". this takes a lot longer, but the results are far clearer.

XVCD/XSVCD

These are basically VCD/SVCD that don't obey the "rules". They are both capable of much higher resolutions and bit-rates, but it all depends on the player to whether the disc can be played. X(S)VCD are total non-standards, and are usually for home-ripping by people who don't intend to release them.
KVCD Thanks for lardo4life for the info

KVCD is a modification to the standard MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 GOP structure and Quantization Matrix. It enables you to create over 120 minutes of near DVD quality video, depending on your material, on a single 80 minute CD-R/CD-RW. We have published these specifications as KVCDx3, our official resolution, which produce 528x480 (NTSC) and 528x576 (PAL) MPEG-1 variable bit rate video, from 64Kbps to 3,000Kbps. Using a resolution of 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL), it's possible to encode video up to ~360 minutes of near VCD quality on a single 80 minute CD-R. The mpeg files created will play back in most modern standalone DVD players. You must burn the KVCD MPEG files as non-standard VCD or non-standard SVCD (depends on your player) with Nero or VCDEasy.

DivX / XviD

DivX is a format designed for multimedia platforms. It uses two codecs, one low motion, one high motion. most older films were encoded in low motion only, and they have problems with high motion too. A method known as SBC (Smart Bit-rate Control) was developed which switches codecs at the encoding stage, making a much better print. The format is Ana orphic and the bit-rate/resolution are interchangeable. Due to the higher processing power required, and the different codecs for playback, its unlikely we'll see a DVD player capable of play DivX for quite a while, if at all. There have been players in development which are supposedly capable, but nothing has ever arisen. The majority of PROPER DivX rips (not Re-Encs) are taken from DVDs, and generally up to 2hours in good quality is possible per disc. Various codecs exist, most popular being the original Divx3.11a and the new XviD codecs.

CVD

CVD is a combination of VCD and SVCD formats, and is generally supported by a majority of DVD players. It supports MPEG2 bit-rates of SVCD, but uses a resolution of 352x480(ntsc) as the horizontal resolution is generally less important. Currently no groups release in CVD.

DVD-R

Is the recordable DVD solution that seems to be the most popular (out of DVD-RAM, DVD-R and DVD+R). it holds 4.7gb of data per side, and double sided discs are available, so discs can hold nearly 10gb in some circumstances. SVCD mpeg2 images must be converted before they can be burnt to DVD-R and played successfully. DVD>DVDR copies are possible, but sometimes extras/languages have to be removed to stick within the available 4.7gb.

MiniDVD

MiniDVD/cDVD is the same format as DVD but on a standard CDR/CDRW. Because of the high resolution/bit-rates, its only possible to fit about 18-21 mins of footage per disc, and the format is only compatible with a few players.

Misc Info :

Regional Coding

This was designed to stop people buying American DVDs and watching them earlier in other countries, or for older films where world distribution is handled by different companies. A lot of players can either be hacked with a chip, or via a remote to disable this.

RCE

RCE (Regional Coding Enhancement) was designed to overcome "Multiregion" players, but it had a lot of faults and was overcome. Very few titles are RCE encoded now, and it was very unpopular.
Macrovision -

Macrovision is the copy protection employed on most commercial DVDs. Its a system that will display lines and darken the images of copies that are made by sending the VHS signals it can't understand. Certain DVD players (for example the Dansai 852 from Tescos) have a secret menu where you can disable the macrovision, or a "video stabaliser" costs about 30UKP from Maplin
(www.maplin.co.uk)

NTSC/PAL

NTSC and PAL are the two main standards used across the world. NTSC has a higher frame rate than pal (29fps compared to 25fps) but PAL has an increased resolution, and gives off a generally sharper picture. Playing NTSC discs on PAL systems seems a lot easier than vice-versa, which is good news for the Brits An RGB enabled scart lead will play an NTSC picture in full colour on most modern tv sets, but to record this to a VHS tape, you will need to convert it to PAL50 (not PAL60 as the majority of DVD players do.) This is either achieved by an expensive converter box (in the regions of £200+) an onboard converter (such as the Dansai 852 / certain Daewoos / Samsung 709 ) or using a World Standards VCR which can record in any format.

About Release Files :

RARset

The movies are all supplied in RAR form, whether its v2 (rar>.rxx) or v3 (part01.rar > partxx.rar) form.

BIN/CUE

VCD and SVCD films will extract to give a BIN/CUE. Load the .CUE into notepad and make sure the first line contains only a filename, and no path information. Then load the cue into Nero/CDRWin etc and this will burn the VCD/SVCD correctly. TV rips are released as MPEG. DivX files are just the plain DivX - .AVI

NFO

An NFO file is supplied with each movie to promote the group, and give general iNFOrmation about the release, such as format, source, size, and any notes that may be of use. They are also used to recruit members and acquire hardware for the group.
SFV -

Also supplied for each disc is an SFV file. These are mainly used on site level to check each file has been uploaded correctly, but are also handy for people downloading to check they have all the files, and the CRC is correct. A program such as pdSFV or hkSFV is required to use these files.

I just wanted to say thank you to ever one that put a post in this thread. I have been trying to download for a long time and the people on this site told me how. I use the final torrent and dvd flick. so far i can only do torrent files but I will keep trying to do the others.
Now if I only knew the risk, lol
Thanks again..............................
