Saturday, August 28 The Broadcast Will Begin at 7 P.M. PT 10 P.M. ET on Pay-Per-View

UFC Lightweight Championship
Frankie Edgar vs. B.J. Penn

Co-Main Event
Randy Couture vs. James Toney

After a back-and-forth instant classic at UFC® 112 in April, which saw Frankie Edgar shock the mixed martial arts world and take the UFC lightweight strap from around BJ Penn’s waist, the two will square off again live from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

Also on this card, it’s The UFC versus Boxing as Randy “The Natural” Couture takes on boxing legend James “Lights Out” Toney as Toney makes his mixed martial arts debut. Plus Rousimar Palhares takes on Nate Marquardt, and Gray Maynard and Kenny Florian battle for the next top lightweight contender spot.

The Undercard

Former Sportfight welterweight champion Mike Pierce will meet Brazilian import Amilcar Alves in a preliminary matchup at UFC 118 “Edgar vs. Penn 2” on Aug. 28 at the TD Garden in Boston. The UFC has finalized a 10-bout lineup for the event, which will air live on pay-per-view.

The underrated Pierce has won seven of his past eight fights, losing only to the world-ranked Jon Fitch. The 29-year-old last appeared in March, when he defeated Julio Paulino by unanimous decision at UFC Live 1 in Broomfield, Colo. Victories against International Fight League veteran Mike Dolce, former World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight title contender Brock Larson and two-time collegiate All-American wrestler Paul Bradley highlight Pierce’s resume. Based in Portland, Ore., the ground-and-pound specialist has secured more than half (seven) of his 12 career wins by knockout or technical knockout.

The once-beaten Alves will carry an eight-fight winning streak into his Octagon debut and has finished four consecutive opponents inside one-round. A black belt in judo, he trains out of the same Nova Uniao camp that produced reigning WEC featherweight king Jose Aldo. Alves, 25, has not competed since December, when he knocked out Fernando Paulon -- the only man to defeat him -- with a first-round knee at Platinum Fight Brazil 2. The bout lasted just 59 seconds.

An anticipated rematch between lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and the man he dethroned, B.J. Penn, will headline UFC 118, along with a heavyweight matchup between UFC hall of famer Randy Couture and professional boxer turned mixed martial artist James Toney. The event will also feature a middleweight showdown pairing former title contender Demian Maia with Mario Miranda, a welterweight tilt pitting “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 5 winner Nate Diaz against Marcus Davis and a duel between world-ranked lightweights Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard.
