The Boxing Commission reaffirmed that will not grant a license to Javier Capetillo.
The Boxing Commission of Puerto Rico had to cancel the license of coach who mistakenly indicted yesterday the Mexican Javier Capetillo, who claimed to be on the corner of his ward Giovani Segura on Saturday during the fight against Ivan Calderon.
Capetillo, who is suspended indefinitely by the California Athletic Commission since February 2009 for putting a bandage altered in the hands of boxer Antonio Margarito before his fight with Shane Mosley, came during the morning yesterday at the offices of the local committee and one of the secretaries filled leaves and accepted for payment of $ 20 to process the coaching license given to him.
"It was made by a person (Idalia Vazquez) to our trust, but does not know Capetillo and didn't know I could fill the roles. In fact, in finance should not have to collect the money, and that applications were not approved by Rafael Soto (Executive Director of the Commission) or me, "said Delgado, who was in Las Piedras at the time the team Segura was on the Commission.
It also acknowledged that Delgado did not leave specific instructions in the event that Capetillo requested a license to practice in Puerto Rico
"I never imagined that (Capetillo) was precisely because he knows it is suspended in the United States and its territories including Puerto Rico," he said.
Capetillo is defended
Capetillo, for his part, he relied on to any authorized person in the committee questioned him about his suspension.
"I was told that all equipment should be licensed and filled their respective roles as the process is. I paid the money and handed it to me. I know my situation and if at that time a person has been filed with the Commission, he explained, but nobody asked me anything, "said Capetillo for First Time to show his ID while he had kept in his pocket.
The veteran coach hopes to talk to Delgado to clarify the situation.
