DP34 switch question / help
I'm used to using just dish 500 or standards alone.... never all together.
However I know you can run a dish 500 into a DP34 switch
and go out to 4 rooms.
however.. WILL FTA unit power the DP 34 switch???
I know they make a powered DP44 switch and people whom use FTA use the Powered DP44 switch and they work with FTA units.
However they are expensive.
So my question will DP34 switch work with FTA like dreambox and Sonicview and Neosat?
Thank you for info..

Some FTA receivers can not power the DP34 switch. A SV360Elite is one that can as long as both tuners are connected.
You can place a provider receiver on the switch to power the switch or place a power inserter on the first output of the DP34 switch and leave the inserter empty. That is to say, do not place a FTA receiver on the inserter.
A DPP44 switch is not necessary, unless you intend to have 4 LNBs input to a switch(4 DP/DPP LNBs or 3 DP/DPP LNBs & 1 FSS LNB).

It would depend on the receiver, alot of FTA receivers will have trouble powering a DP-34, if you have a sub receiver kicking around you can connect it to port #1 on the switch and it will power it, or if you have an old FTA receiver that puts-out more power than the one you are going to use then you can connect it to the switch and the switch will use the stronger receiver for it's power, (and you should know that you should only use DP LNB's with a DP-34 switch).
Personaly, if you just wanted to get 110 & 119 to 4 rooms then I would go with a Quad LNB and forget about the switch. Insted of the DP-34 you can also use a 22KHz 4x4 switch that gives you 4 outputs and it's alot cheaper than the DP-34 and uses much less power.

I have never used a 22KHz switch.. I have always stayed away from that stuff.
seems very complicated.
however I can get a DP44 powered and what I like about the DP44 is its grounded.
but you are right.. They are expensive.
also Im not sure if my dreamboxes will work on DP switches
however i see the 22Khz option in Dreambox

If I remember correctly DP switches require 750mA of current to operate.
Check the rating on the back of your receivers right near the coax input from your LNBs, there will be a current rating there.
