As part of the month long celebration to commemorate Mexico’s bicentennial, Zanfer Promotions will present an explosive seven fight night at the legendary El Foro Theatre in downtown Tijuana, Mex, on Saturday, September 25th. The card will be televised in the USA on Fox Sports Espanol’s
Top Rank Live! series as well as nationally in Mexico by TV Azteca. In the main event, Ramon Garcia Hirales (13-1-1, 8KOs) will defend his WBO interim jr flyweight title against the much more experienced Manuel “Chango” Vargas (28-5-1, 13KOs) in a twelve round event.
The 28 year old Garcia Hirales of La Paz, Mex, captured the strap earlier this summer with a split decision win over Johnriel Casimero in Los Mochis while Jalisco’s Vargas, who has faced the much stiffer opposition such as Nonito Donaire, Donnie Nietes and Edgar Sosa, is coming off stopping Michael Arango a month ago in six rounds.
In the ten round semi-main event, local Humberto “Betillo” Gutierrez (27-2-1, 20KOs) of Tijuana by way of Los Mochis, Mex, faces his sternest test in Rene “Chirizo” Gonzalez (27-2-1, 21KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua, in a battle between hard hitting lightweights.
Making his return to Tijuana, super flyweight David “Flecha” Gaspar (14-2-1, 8Kos) as he takes on Cecilio Santos (24-15-3, 14KOs) of Mexico City, Mex, in a ten round contest.
In a special feature, the bantamweight winner of last month’s “Guante Azteca (Aztec Glove)” tournament, Jose “Tigre” Cayetano (7-0, 2KOs) of Tijuana will face Sergio Najera (3-3, 1KO), also of Tijuana, in a six round battle while Daniel Modad (1-2, 1KO) and Mario Lara (1-1, 1KO), both of Tijuana, will hash it out in a four round super flywight fight.
Undefeated jr. flyweight Maximino Flores (7-0, 6KOs) and super lightweight Victor Garcia (3-0, 2KOs) will also make appearances in separate bouts,
The El Foto Theatre is located on Revolucion Avenue in the heart of Tijuana, Mex, a five minute taxi ride from the international border. Doors open at 5:00pm with the first punch thrown at 6:pm. Tickets available at the El Foro Theatre box office.
