I've heard of good things from those stb but I've never tested one. I'm using an azbox ultra for all formats. I know they're for sale at sadoun.

I just had a look at the specs for this stb and for $179 your getting a great receiver. Only downside is it will not open 4:2:2 feeds and most sports feeds are of that type, azbox opens 4:2:2.

The names are different, from solemend, sathawk to openbox S9. The openbox S9 is the latest and has the AC3 open. It's $10 off this week @ hypermegasat dot com, with free shipping in the US. I'm saving up 4 1 myself. Will still have to get an HDTV to utilize it's full potential though. Maybe I'll win the lotto and get 2!!!

Happy Testing!!!

It would be nice but most hd stb on the market don't do 4:2:2.

I'm curious if it has a blind scan and how long does it take per sat approximately.

Yes it does have blind scan...Some reported scan times.

c/p

Here are some scan times. This is to 100% even though I could cut the scan at 80% since it is above 12200 at that point:

101W/SES-1: 4m 20s. 44TV, 11 radio
95W/G3C: 1m 45s. 52TV, 10 radio
97W/G19: 1m 43s. 252TV 138 radio

That's fast. The only downside with my azbox ultra is that it takes forever to blind scan, I'm hoping future firmware updates will address that issue.

Been researching this box for more than a few months. I was put off at first by not being able to use a switch on a KU Band motor. But they fixed that back in June and also added AC3 direct from HDMI out sound.

I finally broke down and ordered one couple of days ago.

I'm not quite sure as to the meaning of shetup but why would you do that. Pulling in over 1,000 fta channels of which many are premium and nets hd.

M2 and M4..Only had my box since last Tuesday, but to be honest I have not found much negative about it apart from the placement of the vformat button on the remote...you tend to press it by accident since its located right under the arrow and OK button key and switches the format to Pal..

The picture is very impressive in SD and HD...fast processor with quick response time, pvr works flawless so far...for under 200 bucks for a HD box I can't be negative...watching the world series in 720 at the moment..
