Recently Drew and I had a chance to talk to the hardcore legend Mick Foley on our weekly Ring Rap Audio show.
We discussed a few different things in our chat. We covered health benefits for wrestlers, TNA's PPV troubles and more. It's worth checking out if you get a chance to here is a few highlights from out talk with Mick Foley.
Foley on Health Insurance for wrestlers: I don't know the health insurance is a tough one, and it's only in recent months that I realized that having health insurance might have meant losing the royalty checks everybody loves so much. While I don't know if that will ever be possible.
I think promoters have taken a much more active role in letting their talent know wrestling is not a full time job. It's not an entitlement it's something people work hard to do.
Anybody who gets to that level whether it be WWE or TNA or even a developmental contract should understand how hard they worked to get to where they are, and how much they should appreciate where they are, but at the same time they need to understand that it might not last forever. And that it's never too soon to think about retirement.
Foley on PPV buy rates: I don't know the dollars and cents and what contractual obligations are, I just feel like having a monthly PPV just tends to burn through storylines so quickly, and there's always the argument that TNA does too much on each wrestling show, and I believe there is some truth to that. If we were to scale back the PPV's, Character development would be a lot smoother".
