Chris Tarnovsky's Comment on nag 3, "I don't understand why it hasn't been broken"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I don't understand why it hasn't been broken"

Chris Tarnovsky said (starting at 11:13 in the youtube video),
"So here's a Thompson brand new K7 this is the exact same chip nag 3 uses. So I don't understand why it hasn't been broken, except the hackers are lazy maybe. I don't know umm or the Canadians are - are ahh I don't know, maybe the laws changed in Canada."

I wish that I could understand even 10% of what he said. His opinion on the vulnerability of N3 is, however, quite clear. I suspect that the hackers (and the solution if it exists already) have been driven underground by Charlee's legal pursuit. In the meantime money is being made from the poor relative solution, IKS. :tape:

many people including my self have felt that n3 was cracked long ago. i just dont think any one dares do any thing with it.

Same as the Pee4 with Dave; they have developed a pervasive legal atmosphere to intimidate piracy, and it's working very well for them.

We are not lazy, only selective in what we finish. Time for my nap. :sleepy:

i think once iks runs its course...not until then, will be an N3 solution.

i believe there is money in iks .. and if this new thing in stream is to counter act iks.... they may bring out the hack if there is one.

IMHO, there is not as much money in IKS as there would be in selling a new receiver that "is capable" of a stand-alone. I don't think it would take a new receiver- but it would definitely generate revenue.
And, on a different tangent, wouldn't even a IKS solution using a hacked/cracked solution generate revenue too?
I think the legal fears have more to do with it than anything else though, more so than holding out for revenue.
