my laptop came with vista installed, has 2 gig of ram. it is likely okay but....i can't get the upgrade advisor to run at all. anyone else have this trouble?

I usually don't use the Advisor. If your running a Core 2 Duo Processor, have 2GB of Ram and a decent sized hard drive, I think you should be able to run 7

You will also need a good graphic card to be able to use AERO and with 2G Ram you will not be able to run Win 7 X 64.
I ungraded from Vista X32 to Win 7 X64 (laptop) and have seen some differences especially in speed. No crashes yet but only been using Win 7 for a week.

A Good Graphics card is not necessary. I use integrated graphics and I use Aero just fine.
