Former junior middleweight champion Fernando "Feroz" Vargas is set to become the first boxer honored with a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. Vargas will join the likes of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra with a star on the famed Strip. The ceremony will take place on December 9th at the Encore Hotel and Casino that is owned by casino mogul Steve Wynn.
BoxingScene.com reached out to Feroz to get his thoughts on the honor he will soon
receive.
"I'm so humbled that words cannot express how honored I am to be the first fighter to receive a star on the Las Vegas Walk Of Fame," the retired former champion told BoxingScene.com
Vargas who now resides in Vegas continued by saying, "This is truly one of the biggest moments of my life and I want to thank the fans for making this possible. It is because of the fans who voted. Again I am truly thankful and humbled by them for choosing me to be the first fighter to be on the walk of fame. Again thanks to all the fans."
Notable wins on Vargas' resume include future hall of famers Winky Wright and Yori Boy Campas and former champions Ike Quartey and Raul Marquez among others.
