Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton smelled more than just hot dogs and peanuts wafting down from the stands during Game 1 of the World Series in San Francisco on Wednesday night.

The home run hitter was shocked when he recognized the odor of marijuana drifting from the center field seats at AT&T Park, the New York Post reported Thursday.

Hamilton, whose battle with alcohol and drug addiction has been well documented, told the Post weed was not one of his former vices, but that he was quite surprised by the unusual ballpark aroma.

"Weed, no, that wasn't my deal," said Hamilton. “It was crazy. I was looking at the cops a couple of times during the game."

The Post reported the incident was Hamilton’s second straight run-in with blatant weed use since arriving in San Francisco for the first two games of the Series.

"My wife and I were walking down the street (Tuesday) and there was a guy smoking a joint, with a cop 50 yards away," he told the Post.

The Rangers, down 1-0 in the best-of-seven series, will look to overcome Wednesday night's buzz kill in Game 2 on Thursday.

This is a bit like the soup pot calling the tea kettle black isn't it?
I mean Hamilton had a bad cocaine addiction just last year. Then in January he had a relapse.
Now the reports are that he does not go out anywhere much no more
And if he does then he carries very little cash with him (so he doesn't get any ideas of stopping at his local cocaine dealer).

He is the main reason why the Rangers are in the "Big Show" this year.
Too bad he got side-tracked with that damn cocaine but life goes on.....
For him to be complaining about "mary jane" usage is a bit of-topic. He should be doing his thing and smacking that ball out of the ballpark and not worry about what others are doing.
Cocaine usage was a ram-pet thing in the major leagues not so long ago. Many players succumbed to it. One player admitted that the reason he always slid head first into the base was because he didn't want to break the viles of cocaine he kept in his back pocket.
Dwight Gooden would take the odd "sniff " right there on the pitcher's mound.

All i can do is laugh at this. Sorry for the guy as he is trying to get past his addictions but really he is one to talk about others and their vices, lol
