METAIRIE, La. – New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton denied a report by a New Orleans radio talk show that quarterback Drew Brees has a fracture and torn meniscus in his left knee.
“Inaccurate. Completely false,” Payton said Thursday afternoon of the report, which aired Monday night and was published by multiple media outlets earlier Thursday.
Brees began wearing a knee brace following the Saints’ 27-24 overtime loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 26, but he has not missed a play or a practice all season. He has practiced this week without any protection on the knee.
Running back Reggie Bush, who fractured his right fibula in the Saints’ Week 2 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, practiced Thursday on a limited basis for the first time since the injury.
Starting cornerbacks Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer each were listed as “full” Thursday, increasing the chances that both will play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. The Saints are 11-1 when both Porter and Greer start.
