Awhile back someone said to put the dielectric in the lnb but wouldn't that make it a 'circular only' lnb??

How do I make the LNB plumb with the center of the dish??I could use string but I can't lay it on its back.Thanks.

Inserting the plate will make it circular. Only circular sats are on the Atlantic side with mostly foreign channels.
In your other post you mention how to make lnbf plumb with the dish, what do you mean?

I think he wants to get the lnb pointing dead center of the dish.

There are a couple things you can do to help align the feedhorn to the center of the BUD dish.

1. The 'by the book' way to center the feedhorn collar to the BUD dish's center is to get a long tape measure and measure each of the 3 or 4 collar support struts and make sure they are all adjusted so that its the same exact distance from the dish edge to the feedhorn collar all the way around the dish.

If after the above you still aren't sure that its pointing at the center (doesn't look right) or if the BUD dish is old and has been damaged due to a storm or misuse and maybe the dish isn't perfectly round anymore you may be able to recenter the LNB collar by removing the LNB Feedhorn from the collar and by (looking through the LNB collar hole) and make adjustments until the collar aims at the dish center.

I've even heard of people that get a long thin diameter aluminum rod and stick the rod through the collars hole from above and visually see if the rod points at the center as you move it around the center hole (at the bottom of the collar hole should be just below dish center and at the top of the collar hole should point just above dish center, take readings Left and Right also).

Thanks everyone.Mydish was correct.I put the new scalar ring on yesterday and measured from 3 sides and they were all very close to the same,I think within 1/4"_6mm.
Bowhunters,it does seem centered by eyeball.I thought that might not be close enough but I guess it is and I can fine tune it from there.I have no way to reach the front of the dish once it's up,about15-16' to center;14 1/2' to top of pole.I'm thinking of making a 14' stepladder from 4x4's.

You'll know exactly how centered you are once you start skewing your lnbf for optimum signal quality.

Yea,I'm thinking I may be lucky to get 91 or 99 for the winter.Where do I connect the motor wires to my receiver, assuming it will power and control the motor by itself as one of the mods on one of the sites suggested it MIGHT (my Homesat). He didn't mention my Sonicview 360p for this, nor any of the others I have. Can you shed any light on this?I also can fall back to an old Tracker VII,SRD 7000,VCII rcv.

Had to raise jin pole.I came in to warm my fingers.I should have my buddy here from my nearby hometown. He's been lifting weights since he was 12-13,runs his own gym plus a landscaping company with his wife.

When you refer to Homesat, is that an old ird that were used back in the day for dish positioning?

Forget about the previous post I just read your whole post. You will need to use your Tracker to move your dish. I'm not sure about your wires but my setup is as follows:

M1- red
M2- black
sensor- blue and brown(+5-gnd)

same wire to be attached to actuator.

I doubt if I'll be able to get the motor working this year.I have the dish on the rope and tried for the heck of it to raise it by myself.got it an inch off the ground. It's heavier than I thought and there is no one around this weekend to help.I have a spare electric winch and an old truck battery that I think I could team up to do the job of raising it if I can figure a way to anchor the winch.
I just remembered:the pole weighs about the same.I got it up by doubling the rope and used a piece of wood through the 2 pieces of rope to twist the rope raising it a little at a time.humm....maybe?I'll have to sleep on it.We're supposed to get our first snowfall tomorrow.

Appearantly there was an old Homesat way back. This Homesat is an FTA box.The Ariza Xtreme, the Homesat V6 and the Coolsat 8k were all designed by the same designer. My 2 Homesats are converted Ariza Xtremes.(all 3 use the same loader and wipe clean file and I think, but I can't remember for sure, the same factory files.
We should continue this in the C band thread_my mistake!lol

If I had the choice between G17 at 91w or G16 at 99w I would probably opt for 99w because on the net channels. Many channels on 91w seem to be encrypted lately.
