WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez is very interested in a possible fight with countryman Erik Morales. Marquez defends his belts against Michael Katsidis on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Morales is dropping down to 138-pounds to fight former champion Jorge Barrios on December 18 in Mexico. Golden Boy Promotions has listed Morales as one of the frontrunner opponents to fight Marquez in 2011.

"That would be a very big fight, especially in Mexico. We can even do it at 140-pounds. They talked about the fight when we were both at Top Rank, but it never happened," Marquez told BoxingScene.com.

Nacho Beristain, manager and trainer of Marquez, seems more geared to staging the fight in the United States, but he's willing to have in Mexico as well.

"We can have the fight in the United States, Las Vegas or Los Angeles, but if the right money is presented, then we would do it in Mexico," said Beristain.

Erik shoulda stayed retired.... saw him in his return,, looks old and rusty.
Manny beat him up too much.
Marquez would murder him... in my opinion.
Should fight in Mexico if they fight. Be good for the people over there.
Funny,, two Mexican fighters fighting in the USA..
Doesnt make sense.
