On December 7th, heavyweight contender Fres Oquendo (32-6) looks to take a step towards another title shot when he faces former champion Oliver McCall (54-10) at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

BoxingScene.com spoke to Oquendo's longtime manager Tom Tsatas on a variety of topics including Oquendo's upcoming fight and hopefully a title shot versus one of the Klitschko brothers or David Haye in the near future.

This is a cross roads fight for both men as they are both coming off of losses. Oquendo lost a controversial decision to Jean Marc Mormeck in France and McCall lost to Timur Ibragimov this past June.

"If you look at the losses that Fres has they have all been controversial since he was clearly stopped by David Tua seven years ago. He hasn't really lost a fight since then. Forget what the judges said. Fres was robbed in his last fight versus Mormeck. He won at least 9 rounds. Even Dan Rafael who is no fan of Fres said that it was the robbery of the year," Tsatas told BoxingScene.

Tsatas justified his positiion by saying, "In his loss versus Ruiz he never went down and they stopped it after one punch. I agree it was a bad boring fight but look at all the punches Briggs took and they didn't stop it. Fres clearly beat Chris Byrd and didn't get the decision. James Toney, Chris Byrd, Evander Holyfiend and Mormeck, Fres whooped them all. He goes to their hometown and gets f**ked! Plain and simple. There is no other way to put it. He got f**ked. He beat the sh*t out of all of them and got f**ked. Anyone who disagrees with me can call me and try to explain to me how I am wrong."

Team Oquendo is not taking the 45 year old McCall lightly. They do expect to come out with a dominating victory and maybe be the first to stop McCall (McCall has one TKO loss on his resume and that was his infamous fight when he refused to fight back versus Lennox Lewis and appeared to be crying).

"I was looking at his record and he only has 2 losses since 2004 and those were decision losses. I think we have a little tougher of a fight ahead of us than we originally thought but I still think we will have a higher work rate and outbox him. I see us winning a decision but we will do our best to be the first ones to stop McCall. He has an iron chin and can take a pretty good shot."

Tsatas is hoping that an impressive victory will lead to a shot versus either of the Klitschko brothers or WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. "If we 'A' win and 'B' hopefully later on slow him down and punish him into a stoppage it would be a nice exclamation and hopefully it will lead to a shot at David Haye, or Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko."

Tsatas went on to question the Klitschko brothers level of competition and ability to take a punch. "Who have the Klitschko brothers really fought? I give you my word there is no way guys like Ross Puritty, Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster would stop Fres yet they all stopped Wladimir. Vitali couldn't stop Kevin Johnson and then fights Shannon Briggs who had fought what three rounds in three years prior to that fight? I don't see why they wouldn't give Fres a shot. The Klitschkos are good fighters don't get me wrong but why aren't they fighting an Oliver McCall? Surely he has a a better record than Dereck Chisora. Who is this guy? Who is Albert Sosnowski and Audley Harrison? Fres hurt Harrison with 18 ounce gloves and head gear 4 years ago in the first round (sparring). I am just not impressed with these guys."

Accoring to Tsatas, Oquendo even said that if either Wladimir or Vitali can stop him that they can have his purse. "I spoke to Fres the other day and he said if either Klitschko wants to come to the states and if they can stop him he said he will fight for free. They can have his purse. What else does Fres have to do? That sounds like a good deal to me."

"Fres deserves a shot at the titles. Who is more deserving? Maybe Adamek but that is about it. Fres always throws a lot of punches and comes to win and has been on the wrong end of a lot of decisions where he should have got the win and the judges screwed him," Tsatas told Boxingscene as he continued pleading his case.

In closing Tsatas wanted to wish legendary trainer Angelo Dundee who has been training Oquendo a speedy recovery. He broke his hip last week. "I want to thank Angelo (Dundee) and all my partners at the 5th Street Gym. I hope Angelo recovers soon. I hope everybody comes out to see the fight."
