I am wondering if anyone has bought one of these chips or maybe the Hypertech units, and what their opinion of either of them is?

They can't work when the 3 parts inside are not connected together.
There was a resistor wrapped around the outside the the wire jacket, not touching copper wire.
No complete ciruit, can't work.
I wasted my money, save yours.....

Garbage, don't waste your money. What these things do is trick your IAT sensor to make the PCM think that it's something like -40 degrees outside, so the PCM will pump in more fuel into the engine. This will cause you to run rich, burning more fuel and fouling spark plugs, O2 sensors, and catalytic converters.

What's the make/model of the vehicle? Tunes are catered to the exact powertrain. There's no such thing as a universal.

Also, there's no real point to tuning a stock engine. Once you've improved at least the intake and exhaust then you can look at custom tuning by a competent shop.
