At the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Pawel Wolak (28-1, 18KOs) stopped Jose Pinzon (18-2, 12KOs) in the seventh round. The stoppage was very premature.
It was an inside war from the opening minute. The larger Pinzon was imposing his will on Wolak and scored a knockdown in the second round. Wolak was able to weather the storm and make to the bell. Wolak came back very strong in the third. He was landing a lot of flush punches and doubled up on the pressure. Pinzon was having trouble dealing with Wolak's pressure for the rest of the fight.
In the seventh round, Wolak continued to pressure and was hitting Pinzon with some good punches. The ref jumped in and stopped the fight without warning after Wolak landed a good hook. Even Wolak was shocked at the stoppage. The crowd was very upset.
