I've been trying to decide which would be better. I have a Pansat 9200HD at the moment, and was going to purchase a DVB-S2 module for it, but now I seem to be leaning towards purchasing an Openbox S9. The cost difference between the 2 is minimal. Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Silverado

Get more opinions then just mine my friend, but I thought that although the 9200 is a terrific STB, it can't blind scan S2
Again, I'm not positive on that. :noidea: It's just what I "think" I remember reading.
With that said...I "thought" I read that the Openbox S9 doesn't blind scan S2 either, unless I'm confusing it with the Sathawk

You have to get a module for the 9200 to get S2 capability, I think the new modules might have blind scan too....

Hi
Just bought s9 $153.98 all in delivered haven't tried it
yet next week when I start Christmas holiday's it says
it does blind scan on preselected satellites one after another.
Thought I would try one because my Kbox Panther Hd does not
support blind scan with the present software but does have excellent
front end as compared to my other receivers.
Hope this helps
Merry Christmas

Thank you everyone for your input. I have also considered the Azbox Premium, but not sure if I want to spend the extra dough. I'll probably wait until the new year before making any decisions.
I'm in the same boat...
I have my mind set on the AZBox, but every time I get a little money saved up, some surprise happens.
This month my pressure tank for my well went out, which was darn near a grand, & that was doing all the work my self:bawl:
So hopefully by Spring I can get one

I've been running the new board in my 9200 since shortly after buying the used STB in March. The board was $136 with shipping. I've seen it for $139 recently. Just make sure its the DVB-S2 upgrade board you're buying. I got mine on flea bay.
The 9200 is getting more and more S2 transponders since I first installed it on both ku and c band.
My only issue with the 9200 is it scans very slowly. But it is very thorough.
I love my c-band. The picture quality is wonderful -- almost as good as OTA.

I've been using the azbox ultra for about 4 months now and the stb is awesome except it takes forever to blind scan. I'm waiting for my openbox s 9 to arrive, I've heard it opens everything except 4:2:2 feeds and its blind scan is very fast and precise. I would opt for the new stb then invest more $$$ in an older one.

That's what I've been thinking as well. My 9200 is great, but it's becoming outdated. I think I'll be going with the Openbox sometime in the new year.
Thanks for the advice.
Well,
I'm glad to have been wrong on my first post in this thread.
Thanks guys for the info.
