WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is potentially going to return on March 12, according to Cotto's legal adviser, Gabriel Penagaricano. Cotto (35-2, 28 KOs) has not fought since June's ninth-round knockout victory over Yuri Foreman (28-1, 8 KOs).

A list of four possible opponents were provided to Cotto and his team. According to Cotto's trainer, Emanuel Steward, the names include unbeaten Vanes Martirosyan (28-0, 17 KOs), Pawel Wolak (28-1, 18 KOs), and Rigoburto Alvarez (26-2, 19 KOs), who is the older brother of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The fourth opponent is actually a Steward trained fighter, 37-year-old IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius Bundrage (30-4, 18 KOs).

The fight in March could lead to a June rematch with Antonio Margarito. The Margarito rematch could be followed by a potential clash with WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (46-2-2, 25 KOs) on an HBO pay per view event in September or October.

Among the four possible options, some sources indicate that Wolak is viewed as the frontrunner. The always outspoken Martirosyan is going to make a big push for the fight. Cotto and Martirosyan are mutually promoted by Top Rank.

"I heard that they are trying to make Cotto and me happen on March 12. I hope it gets made. Cotto is the only champ that has the balls to fight anyone so I hope we can make our fight happen. I have wanted a big fight for a long time. I hope I get the opportunity to show the world what I can do," Martirosyan said to BoxingScene.com.
