WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan was quoted in several British outlets as stating that Lamont Peterson is a possible candidate to become his April opponent in England. Peterson fought to a draw with Victor Ortiz in the co-feature to Khan's decision win over Marcos Maidana last Saturday. Most ringside observers had the fight easily scored for Ortiz, who dropped Peterson twice in the third round.

"I think Golden Boy is looking at someone like Lamont Peterson. I think I have the style to knock him out," Khan said.

Zab Judah's name is still being mentioned as a good possibility, and Breidis Prescott. The only logic behind a Peterson fight is a statement maker. Peterson's only defeat was a twelve round decision to WBO champion Tim Bradley, who most regard as the best fighter at 140-pounds. If Khan is able to knock Peterson out, then he accomplishes something that both Bradley and Ortiz failed to do. It also helps set up a Bradley clash for July, if Bradley gets past WBC champion Devon Alexander on January 29.

"My next fight has to be in Britain," Khan told Ringside. "I get a lot of requests from fans saying 'why don't you come back and fight over here?'.

"My last two fights have been in America and I think it's time now to get a big fight over here. I know every fighter likes to go to Vegas, the Mandalay Bays, the Madison Square Gardens, but you cannot forget your home fans. I want to fight here next.

"I want to be back in the ring in April time, maybe the first or second week. That gives me time to have a break then get in training for eight weeks."
