According to Dave Meltzer, here is the latest on Karo Parisyan pulling out of UFC 106. Reports of Karo pulling out of the event due to not being able to pay the Nevada State Athletic Commission $32,000 in fines from his drug test positive in January are not accurate. Keith Kizer of the NSAC has stated that the situation was taken care of. The commission was going to take $16,000 from Karo's $45,000 guarantee, and then allow him to replay the rest at a later date. If he were to win, he would have made $90,000, and the whole $32,000 would have been deducted.

Keith Kizer has also stated that Karo contacted the commission to discuss pain he was in, and to see which painkillers were allowed. He was informed that over the counter drugs were legal, and then asked about other medications. Kizer explained to him that if his doctor wrote a letter to the commission doctor, that those two could work things out. The commission never got a letter or call from Karo's doctor.

Fiveouncesofpain.com is also reporting that they have spoken to Neil Melanson from Xtreme Couture, who is also a friend and training partner of Karo. He is saying that Karo has been battling a "brutal battle with an addiction to pain-killers" for a while now, dating back to when he was training for the Matt Hughes fight. Karo suffered a severe hamstring injury during that training, and the fight was cancelled. The addiction reportedly started there and still is a problem today.
