In his welterweight debut and the first fight since the May TKO loss to Amir Khan, former champion Paul Malignaggi (28-4, 6KOs) stopped Michael Lozada (36-7, 29KOs) in the sixth round at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
The fight was a complete mismatch from the opening bell. Malignaggi was too fast and was throwing way too many punches. Lozada could not catch Malignaggi and had nothing in the tank by the sixth round. Lozada's mouthpiece was hanging out and there was nothing coming back in return as Malignaggi was pounding on him with multiple punches. The ref finally saw enough and stopped the fight before the end of the sixth. Lozada was exhausted at the point of the stoppage.
