Sign up for the Chrome OS beta test. Beta testers get a free Chrome notebook:

It's an interesting device. You power it on, join to the wireless network, accept the agreement, let it install its updates, then login with your Google account. You're up at the Chrome web browser. All your settings, bookmarks, themes, and extensions are automatically pulled over from your Google account. It's super-simple.

Another interesting thing is the built-in Verizon 3G support. They give you free 100MB/month for two years. Sure, that's not much, but it's enough to check your email from time to time if no WiFi is available.

It's an interesting toy to play with.

People mention that they've signed up for this and have actually got it delivered a few days later by UPS. So don't be skeptical and sign up!

You have until the 21st of December 2010 to sign up, so hurry.:yeaah:

just to clarify that it's actually a notebook, not a netbook

The Cr-48 is the test notebook we designed for the Pilot program. It's the first of its kind.

It's ready when you are, booting in about 10 seconds and resuming from sleep instantly. There’s built-in Wi-Fi and 3G, so you can stay connected everywhere, and a webcam for video chat. The vibrant 12-inch LCD display, full-size keyboard and oversized touchpad let you enjoy the web comfortably. And at just 3.8 pounds with over eight hours of active usage and a week of standby time, it’s easy to take along for the ride.

What did we leave out? Spinning disks, caps-lock key, function keys, and lap burns.

The Cr-48 is available exclusively to participants in the Pilot program.
