Fightnews.com has confirmed that Manny Pacquiao will face Shane Mosley on May 7. The bout will be for Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight title (no catch weight) and will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Mosley officially signed to do the fight today. Promoter Bob Arum said he turned to Mosley after Floyd Mayweather Jr. was unresponsive in the fight. Mosley, a partner with Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins in Golden Boy Promotions, went rouge and negotiated the fight on his own against the wishes of Golden Boy, which preferred to have Juan Manuel Marquez face Pacman.

Well shut my mouth and call me Mary !!! When Shane started this last week I was sure he was just yapping trying to get Pac to consider him and that Pac would blow him off for his poor performance with PBF. I`m not seeing much of a fight here but maybe this time Mosley will stay off "the greens" and okra (not Oprah) before this fight. Pac in 6 on a TKO.

Ha ha ha... now this is a joke! This is one fight I can live without...
I am kinda surprised at Manny,,, he usually picks good opponents... don't know
why he picked a guy that is close to 40 and has looked horrible his last two fights....
Shane gonna get paid to take a beating. Unless Manny carries him like Floyd did.
May 7th almost half a year from now.... doubt Shane will get better by then.
But he will get older.
I think Manny gonna get criticized on this one. Too many young and talented fighters out there to be recycling opponents.
Just my 2 cents gents.

It's not Manny's choice, Arum and Roach decide for him. Shane knocked down Margarito and Manny didn't, that is what's a stake here. He can do the same with Manny. This will be the test for the Pretty Floyd match.........:innocent:

I have to agree. This fight will be used to compare his performance since he has already fought pbf.If pac were to take care of him faster then he would have the bragging rights to entice him into fighting. Now we have to see if this is going to be a legit weight class fight. No catch weights.I read somewhere that they will be fighting for the 154 belt.

It has to be in 147pounds, Roach said Pac will stay at 147.

So in other words,,, this fight is being used as a measuring stick???? People are being asked to shell out $55 bucks to see how fast Manny can knock him out? Gotta be a fool to pay that kinda money to see Shane used as a guinea
pig... besides,,, Mayweather carried Shane for 12 rounds.. we all saw that..
Never really went after him.... as we know they are good friends.
Ha ha ha... so Shane knocked Margarito down and Manny didnt. (mainly cuz he carried Margarito for fear of killing him)
So on those grounds,,,, Shane deserves a shot at Manny.... noooo.
No matter who made this fight, its a bad one. And dont kid yerself... Manny has more input into his career than you think. He is not a fool.
Shane couldnt fill the arena when he last fought Mora... was half empty.
Anyway guys... I think I have had my final say on this fight.
Shane's chances are slim and slimmer.... and slim is about ready to commit
suicide.
Just my thoughts.. Have a great day guys.

On the other hand, Miguel Cotto beat Mosley and Manny beat Cotto with a TKO.
When it comes to these older fighters, they usually look good against pressure fighters that throw slow looping punches. Such is the case with Mosley vs Margarito and Bernard Hopkins vs Kelly Pavlik. The older fighters with their experience can time those slow punches quite well and they know their straighter punches will almost always land before their opponent's looping punched will.
As far as the Manny vs Margarito fight goes, Manny had to put on a lot of weight beyond his natural body weight and still gave away 17 or 18 pounds to Margarito. Margarito being that much bigger, made it much easier for him to absorb punishment from the smaller Manny. Even with Manny being that much smaller, he still did a pretty good job at rearranging Margarito face.
Manny's fighting style it much closer to Cotto's fighting style then it is to Margarito's fighting style, and yet, they are worlds apart. Manny is much faster, has a bigger arsenal, hits harder, and probably has a much better defense then Cotto does. Manny probably has the best ring generalship in the sport and has been known to throw 5, 6, and 7 punch combos with an extremely high connect rate. I just don't see this fight being much different then the Pacman vs Cotto or the Pacman vs Oscar De La Hoya fight was. My guess is that it will be closer to the Oscar De La Hoya fight.

Don't forget guys that Manny was hit more times by Margarito ( who is much slower than Shane ) than in previous fights and much harder too.
I love seeing him fight but does he need to keep taking these heavier punches from the bigger guys ? I think Shane will give him a good run for his money and may even win insane as it seems. Did you see Hopkins last week ?
Shane may fight smarter than against Money but we'll see !!

Cotto fought Mosley on even weight class, with Manny he was drained to 145 pound catch weight deal. While Manny went up,Cotto was drained down. Even though, he lasted 12 rounds getting all that Manny can hit. Same with Shane, when he ko Margarito they went at it on an even weight class, and you saw the result of that one. With Manny the same tactic used with Cotto, catch weight deal, Margarito was bigger but full of water not muscular mass, the mass, you know who had it......................:innocent:

When it comes to boxing, anything if possible. I just hope both guys are committed to putting on a good show so their fans get what they are paying for.

I can agree with that. I think Manny should be fighting more around his natural weight class. There are some good fights to be made in there.
