upgrade to 4.2,why so slow???

i'm trying to put 4.2 on my i phone 4 and it's taking like 4 hrs??I've googled and watched video's on how to make it faster but cant seem to get nothing to work except when i click update on itunes 10.1 it starts to dl but why is it taking so long??is this normal?now it say's 84 minutes maybe i'll just wait it out?i've read were ppl waited it out then got a error message,that would suck!

please make sure you back up your phone first . just in case something goes wrong

i got an error message and had to reflash with my back up
