Yes you can, but not the best to have HD channels, effect in weather poor conditions will be possible lost signals

Have a look at this guide for making your own antenna for HD tv. It's cool and works.

Hi Guys, been a while since I posted...I have my 8 bay copper wire installed with a rear screen. The rear screen is the new addition.
I am having confussing results. Sometimes when I scan I will recieve my HD channels, and sometimes...not.
When I physically touch a wiskers(lack of a better word) on the antenna the channel will come in.
Should I ground the rear screen ? My thinking is, as well as the ground...the whole house and copper wire contribute to antenna ?
Wishful thinking

Something is not right somewhere.
My antenna mast is grounded which makes everything toughing the mast grounded. I don't know how the elements are grounded, but my coax coming from the elements is attached to a grounding block, which is attached to the mast. Have you tried one of these (grounding block)?
Maybe double check your connections to make sure they are tight.:noidea:

Thanks augoldfinger, I'll set up ground tests and report back. :)
