WBC silver junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez wants to become a big player by the end of 2011. To do this, he knows that he has to take a risk against a top name in the sport. Two of the names he's thrown out there are Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto, the WBA champion at 154. Currently Golden Boy Promotions is trying to finalize the details for Canelo's next fight on March 5.
"It was a very good year. I'm happy because I made my debut on the right foot with Golden Boy Promotions. As a promoter I crowned my first champion, and because I personally feel very well," said Alvarez to Sal Rodriguez. "The plan is to enter the major league of boxing before the year ends. I may have to face a Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley, to show the critics that I have what it takes."
