I remember this scenario last February in Vancouver and everything worked out fine.

it was a good game.
a loss is ok, especially from a talented team like the sweds. a reality check, perhaps, and a taste of the loseing side has its positives as well.
i have faith the team canada will bounce back, and if they get past the american team, they will avenge the loss from the sweds.

Well Todd ol` boy-----I`m pretty sure we got our answer about Roy--he stunk, not that the Swede`s goaltender was a whole lot better-- till it counted. Canada has always prided itself on solid goaltending which in turn allows their vaunted offense to take the chances it does and still emerge successful. Not this time around---I don`t want to dump too bad on Roy but I call it as I see it-----I`ve seen Midget House goalies with better positioning and rebound control than Roy has shown in his 3 games.
Watching the game yesterday---one thing jumped out at me, it looked like they traded jerseys. Team Canada looked like the Swedes of old and Sweden played Canadian hockey to almost perfection. Sweden won almost every play along the boards esp in Canada`s zone---puck went into the corners---Swede came out with it. Team Canada forwards covered no one in their own end but rather waited for their breakout pass. The number of "third man on a rush" shots taken by Sweden were astounding. The best "team" won yesterday---Sweden took Canada`s game and shoved it right up their as$ in a true Canadian fashion.
Canada plays the Swiss on Sunday at 3 pm EST-----remember the Swiss?? and a kid named Conz?? now he`s referred to as "King Conz"---this kid is their goalie and is certainly more than capable of throwing a wrench in Canada`s party. Just ask the Russians of a year ago. Goaltending is a must in any kind of these tourneys.
On a bright note, there is a kid to watch that`s burning up the ice and flying below the radar so far as Brayden Schenn is getting all the press (rightfully so) while Ryan Ellis and Olivier Roy stink the place out. The kid who has my vote other than Schenn for MVP at this point is #19 Ryan Johansen a forward for Canada---without the work of Johansen, Schenn`s press clippings would be a lot shorter.
Anyway, this is the TSN take on the game.....

The Swedish players said they were not intimidated by Team Canada and they played like it in a New Year's Eve classic at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo, NY.
In a game that had five lead changes, Sweden defeated Team Canada 6-5 in a shootout to win Pool B and advance directly to Monday's semi-finals.
With the loss, Team Canada must play in Sunday's first quarter-final game at 3pm et/Noon pt against Switzerland or the United States.
The scoring started early in the first period and lasted to the last second of the opening frame.
In the first minute, Sean Couturier fired a centring pass into the crease and had it carom off a Swedish defenceman and behind Robin Lehner in the Swedish net, sending the raucous pro-Canadian crowd into a frenzy.
But less than two minutes later with Casey Cizikas in the penalty box, Max Friberg batted a puck behind Olivier Roy in the Canadian net to get Sweden back on even terms.
Later in the opening frame, Carl Klingberg came out from the corner and beat Roy high on the glove side to give Sweden their first lead of the game.
But the lead was shortlived as just 43 seconds later, Quinton Howden fired a wrist shot from out long distance that eluded Lehner's glove to tie the game back up at 2-2.
In the last second of the first period, the puck took a strange bounce off the end glass and landed in front of the Swedish net. Curtis Hamilton pounced on the opportunity to give Canada their second lead of the game at 3-2.
Despite the deflating end to the first period, Sweden came out firing in the second frame and regained the lead in the first three minutes of action.
Early in the period, Klingberg jumped into a scramble in front of the Canadian net and flipped the puck over Roy for his second goal of the game to make the score 3-3.
Shortly after, Jesper Thornberg fired a long shot over the shoulder of Roy to give Sweden the lead for a second time at 4-3.
But Canada replied when Brayden Schenn made a cross-crease pass to Hamilton, who guided it into the net with his skate. After a quick review by the officials, the shorthanded goal (Hamilton's second of the game) counted and the game was tied again at 4-4.
After 40 minutes of play, Sweden was outshooting Canada by a count of 33-19 and threatened to score on a regular basis. But Canada regained their form in the third period and forced Sweden to take two early penalties.
Canada took the lead for a third time in the third period when Schenn poked home a loose puck on the power play to make the score 5-4.
Midway through the frame, Patrick Cehlin went wide on the Canadian defence and beat Roy with another weak goal over the shoulder to put Sweden back on level terms at 5-5 and set up the subsequent overtime period and shootout.
Team Canada came into the game shorthanded up front with Jaden Schwartz out with a broken ankle and Zack Kassian serving out his suspension while Swedish sniper Gabriel Landeskog missed the game with a high ankle sprain.
During the first intermission, Barry Epp of Cranbrook, B.C. won three all-new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Sedans for himself and two friends in the $1 million Chevrolet Cruze Million Dollar Shootout.
Notes: According to the Duluth News Tribune, Team Canada defenceman Dylan Olsen has decided to turn pro, signing a three-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. He will leave his college team at Minnesota-Duluth and report to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League after the tournament.

Nice post Cobra man..But all in all Roys lacklustre performance in net ruined Canada's chance at going straight to the semi final.I would say atleast 4 of the goals scored on him should have been easily saved..Very frustrating to watch..Lets just hope they beat the Swiss tomorrow..Cheers

Pretty much what I saw too buddy. Poor kid ain`t making too many fans lately. You gotta feel for him, but that`s the job description he chose---the last line of defense. The glory and the goat in one simple neat little package.

True enough Cobra. But to the fans in Canada and even Bob Mckenzie Roy is playing like a goat.Perhaps the coach should have taken some of the pain away for both the fans the team and Olivier Roy himself..

Yeah---the pain of a coach...LMAO to pull or not to pull...that is the question. Cameron seems to know he`s probably going to need Roy before this is over---no young goalie has ever gotten out of a slump while sitting the bench esp when he`s been forced to sit re his play. We`ve all heard the old addict "you play thru a slump" only thing is that here we don`t have time----as a coach you die a million times over making the call-- praying the kid is mentally strong enough to recover from being tugged in an international spotlight. You make the call that`s best for all concerned as a team-----and pray that you`re right. LOL
