Team Canada's road to gold begins in earnest today with a quarter-final matchup against Switzerland at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Buffalo, NY.
You can watch the game live on TSN, TSN.ca and TSN Mobile Apps at 3pm et/Noon pt or get scoring updates and join a live blog during the game on TSN.ca.
The winner of today's game faces the United States in Monday's semi-finals.
Canada will be looking to rebound from their heartbreaking shootout loss to Sweden on Friday. Mark Visentin, who played in Canada's 10-1 win over Norway, gets the start in the Canadian net today after Olivier Roy struggled in Friday's loss.
"I think our coach put it best, they didn't hand out the medals on the day we lost," said Canada captain Ryan Ellis. "I think this is when the real tournament starts."
Brayden Schenn continues to lead the tournament in scoring with seven goals and seven assists for 14 points in four games. Winger Zack Kassian returns to the lineup after serving a two-game suspension for a match penalty he picked up against the Czech Republic in the round-robin.
Inti Pestoni leads Switzerland in scoring with three goals and two assists in four games while New York Islanders' first round pick Nino Niederreiter leads the team with 18 shots on goal. Goaltender Benjamin Conz was outstanding on Friday, stopping 40 of 42 shots and almost stealing a win against the United States.
Canada boasts the tournament's best power play with an eye-popping 50% success rate while Switzerland has struggled on the penalty kill at less than 70%.
Canada will also welcome back forward Zack Kassian, who missed the previous two games due to suspension.
"That's huge for us. I think he's one of our better players," said Ellis. "I think having his physical edge and his all-around game up in the front, I think that'll help our team out a lot.
"[He] gives us a four-line rotation," said head coach Dave Cameron. "Gives us another strong power forward with good hands and has really helped the power play."
Canada is 18-0-0 all-time against Switzerland, including two wins at last year's tournament.
In a pre-tournament game in Oshawa on December 20, Canada routed Switzerland to the tune of 8-0.
