# In the router's setup, go to Wireless.

# Change the Wireless Mode to "WET" (Wireless Ethernet Bridge).

# For the SSID, enter the name of the AP you'll be connecting to.

# Go to Administration, and click the "Reboot" button.

# After the router reboots, go to the Setup page.

# Set the router IP to something within your other router's subnet (such as 192.168.1.2). Your other router won't be able to assign an IP to this interface. UPDATE: According to Thibor, the developer of the firmware for the WRT54GS, wireless performance may be improved by setting this IP to something not within your other router's subnet. For example, if your main router's IP is 192.168.1.1, set your "bridge" to an IP of something such as 10.0.0.1. Once the router is set to bridge mode, there is not much need to access its setup page. If you ever
need to do so, plug a computer directly into it, and set the computer to a static IP of 10.0.0.2, for example.

# Disable DHCP (devices connected to the WRT54G, such as your TiVo, will get their IPs from your main router).

# If you use wireless security (WET, WPA, etc.), set the WRT54G to match the main router's settings in the "Wireless Security
" tab.

How hard is it to put Tomato on this WRT54GL router? I'm thinking about buying one tomorrow. They're on for $60 new.

Think I'm in trouble now. Loaded Mini and did hard reset. Loaded standard and did hard reset. Now the power light just flashes on and off. Tried another hard reset. I can ping it but the light will still flash.

you need to open browser, type 192.168.1.1 in address bar , type user name and password, you should be able to see the router CP page, in the upper right corner should be a bin version, tell me what is it, please
http://www.mandladventures.com/2007/04/12/how-to-flash-the-wrt54gl-with-dd-wrt-firmware/
BTW, you already post your question on dd-wrt forum, they will be able to help you over there, good luck

I'm running my older router at the moment. I can ping the new one but the ttl=100 so they say that's firmware fault.

You should be setting this up using a "wired" connection , and as dishuser stated, on you pc, right click on your wired connection icon, and click properties , go down to TCP/IP and click properties, and change IP to 192.168.1.1 and hit the "tab" button to assign a gateway, and then click close, and try again from there...

I ended up with DD-WRT 24 standard generic. All is good. That was my first time flashing DD-WRT and didn't wait long enough for the NRAM to reload.

wyrman, next time you have an issue though, please start a thread of your own, didn't realize til now that this wasn't your thread, but everyone got their stuff working, no harm , no foul....but in the future, pls be aware that hi-jacking a thread is against site rules...

I was in this thread from the begining with Knoifish. He was up on Tomato. I didn't see a problem with keeping this thread alive. Oh well next time.

I believe those are sp1's though, I think I have them also. Now they're up to preSP2 and pretty stable. All of the stuff in the paid ones the average user will never use, it's best to just use the latest recommended IMO. Glad you got it working.
I had to TFTP to my t-mob editions before I went all N.
