Cowboys edge Redskins to maintain lead in NFC East

DALLAS - The Dallas Cowboys maintained first place in the NFC East by edging the Washington Redskins 7-6 at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday.

Tony Romo hit Patrick Crayton with a 10-yard scoring pass with 2:41 left in regulation to give Dallas the victory over their divisional rivals.

One week after scoring their lone touchdown in the closing seconds of a 17-7 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys' offense struggled once again.

"We're concerned. We need to score more points, that's obvious," Dallas coach Wade Phillips told reporters. "That's something we'll go back and try to work on.

"If I knew the reasons, we would have scored more in this game. The other game, we didn't run the ball well enough.

"This game we ran the ball well enough and didn't throw it well enough. We just need to put the two together."

Romo completed 15 of 27 passes for 158 yards and threw one interception.

"We didn't play as well as we would have liked today. I think that was obvious," said Romo. "I was proud of the guys for continuing to fight and not giving up and believing throughout the game that we were going to win the game.

"You don't win these type of football games without that kind of belief in each other."

Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham kicked two field goals but missed a 39-yarder late in the first half and a 50-yard attempt in the final quarter.

Dallas is 7-3 while the second-place Philadelphia Eagles were 5-4 heading into their game later Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Washington quarterback Jason Campbell completed 24 of 37 passes for 256 yards and tossed one interception. The Redskins fell to 3-7.
