"VANCE ARCHER" LANCE HOYT
- Lance Hoyt joins the show for the first time in well over 5 years. Lance says it has been way too long and says he's glad to be back.
- Since leaving the WWE, he has been laying low. But, he's now making a plan towards getting back on the scene again. He is working independent events in Texas and is hoping to branch back outwards.
- James says that Lance had been working for so long before going to FCW which people view as a place to learn to work, what did FCW have for him. Lance said that there are two camps in FCW, the ones that already know how to work and are learning what the WWE wants and expects from them and those that are learning from the ground up. He was a part of the guys learning what the WWE style was because they have a style all their own. He says that there is a great group of guys down in FCW.
- Lance's look is discussed. He says 2 hours before making his debut, he still had his long hair and rock look. The WWE tweaked the look with the hair, facial hair, and attire. He said he was told they were pulling the look back to let it evolve on TV.
- Lance regrets the remark about Batista from our first interview with him in 2005. He says he had no idea how cool of a guy Batista was when he said it as he never met him or how hard he works to maintain that physique. He had said that he was afraid that WWE wouldn't want him because he doesn't have a body like that. But, says that there was never a mention to him about his look being a problem at all.
- The funniest thing that Lance read online was that his character, Lance Archer, before it debuts, was confirmed online to be a Robin Hood angle. He was going to be an archer that ran around in green tights stealing from the rich. He says he admits to reading what is put online and that some of it can be very funny and off base. But, some is dead on.
- Lance enjoyed his run in the WWE. He says no promises were made and none were broken.
- Lance says for all the flack the WWE's ECW show got for not being like the original ECW, it was a wrestling show where guys coming up got a chance to show their wares. He says Superstars kind of has assumed that role but not to the degree ECW did.
- He feels that his push was very much like the push that Sheamus was getting before his big break. He says had ECW not ended, there is no telling what his character would have evolved into and where he would be now.
- The guys talk about his tag teams throughout the years in TNA and WWE. Lance says that he wishes there was more of a focus on tag wrestling as he enjoys it. This leads into a discussion of the Rock and Rave Infection.
- Lance says the Rock and Rave Infection was basically himself, Jimmy Rave, and Christy Hemme goofing off. What happened was, the 3 were already friendly backstage so it just fit to pair them together on TV.
- There was no set inspiration for the team like Bill and Ted or Wayne's World. If anything, it was a spoof of sorts on Rock Band and Guitar Hero. They just were goofing off. Rave wore the glam metal tights and Lance said he was going for a Slash like look and Christy Hemme is a rocker herself so it was just easy to fit. He feels more could have been done with it but he doesn't get upset about what things could have been.
- Lance loved being in the WWE SmackDown! VS RAW 2011 video game. He says the realism in it is amazing and it is a great honor to be on the screen like that. He and James joke that the games have come a long way since the WWF WrestleMania game from 1988 on the NES.
- Lance did work Japan before signing with the WWE but he says Japan has been hit with the financial collapse also and as such places like All Japan are not bringing in as many American workers as they were due to the cost of travel and so forth. He says that the days of being able to go and work Japan for 6 months and make enough money to take time off after that tour are over because their wrestling scene has taken the exact same hit the US wrestling scene has.
- Lance says the door at TNA and WWE were left open. He says even when doors are closed, theyre not fully closed because there's always a crack to get through. And, if he's given a chance and the door is open a crack, he will kick it open like he always does.
- Lance says he's back on the scene and hops to make another impact to leave the show. You can keep up with lance on Twitter at http://twitter.com/lancehoyt and book him for shows at [email protected]. Tell him the Epicenter sent you!
