Trainer Robert Garcia and 24-year-old rising lightweight star, Brandon Rios (26-0-1, 19 knockouts), told FanHouse that they would love to entertain a potential bouts with WBC lightweight champ, Humberto Soto (54-7-2, 32 KOs), or WBA junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KOs). Soto has a May 7 rematch with Urbano Antillon (28-2, 20 KOs).
For now, however, next up for Rios is a Showtime televised, Feb. 26 appearance opposite 32-year-old WBA king Miguel Acosta (28-3, 22 KOs), who has a 19-fight winning streak the includes 12 knockouts, and stoppages in his previous three bouts.
"I would love to see Brandon fight the winner of Antillon-Soto And then, after that, if it's not Marquez at 135, then move up to 140 and go after the champions at 140," ," said Garcia, who would love to see Rios in the ring with Khan.
"That's the fight I would rather get is Amir Khan, because Amir Khan is very beatable," said Garcia. "You know, he's a helluva fighter and a helluva champion, but I think that Brandon's style is perfect to fight Amir Khan."
