The president of the United States has a clear rooting interest in the NFL playoffs, and he isn't shy about it.
Asked on Wednesday about his plans for the weekend, President Obama said, “Oh, if the Bears are in the Super Bowl, we’re going.”
Obama was a senator from Illinois before he decided to run for the presidency in 2008. He hails from Chicago and is a self-proclaimed White Sox, Bulls and Bears fan.
Chicago will host division rival Green Bay at Soldier Field on Sunday. During the season, the teams split the series, but the Packers won the previous matchup 10-3 at Lambeau Field during the final week of the regular season.
Super Bowl XLV will take place in Dallas at Cowboys Stadium. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had hoped his hometown team would take part in the game, but the Cowboys finished 6-10 this year and didn’t make the playoffs.
