I bought new monitor to my old pc running XP...When I connected my new monitor, it was OK but after I shut down my pc last night and turned it on today, it changed the appearance..I can't viewed all the whole wallpaper in my desktop..I meant, wallpaper not occupying the whole space of the monitor

Here is the picture, the red line should be the edge of the monitor.

okay, put the baby down...lol...

I have only had this issue on laptops and either had to update drivers for video, and then set the display settings to the highest.....

well what you would need to do is find the video driver for your specific computer model. for example, if you had a dell 2500, you would go to dells website and look for support or drivers. for some brands you can type your model number and then it will pull up the drivers for that model. anyways locate the video driver for your model and download it to your computer. its not hard.

now i'm not sure if that will fix your problem but i just wanted to tell you how to locate a driver for your computer.

Yes monitor comes with the disk but I didn't do anything on it. All I know it was fine the first time I installed it.

If your running xp it should tell you new hardware found and install or ask for the driver for the monitor. Some monitors permit you to size and center the image..I would load the driver for the onitor from the cd it came with then reboot the computer to make shure the driver installed properly. Your video card may need a driver update also.
When was the last time you did a windows update??

Try this....Go to your control panel, select "system" go to "hardware", open the "device manager", then select the "Monitors" from the list, hi-light the monitor if it is shown, go to the top of the hardware folder and select under the "action" tab "Scan for hardware changes" it should find the new monitor.

i think this is not a monitor issue as i tested it on other pc which is no problem..

I downloaded the catalyst/driver that eyeQ suggested, still the same result

And you have checked the video resolution and scan/refresh rates to see that they match your new monitor?

If the refresh rate is off it could do that.

Try seeing if you have the Ati catalyst control center program installed on you PC if you do you can adjust that window to fit the monitor. You have to go thru advanced settings in the program.....

Have you tried to rebooting into safe mode and then see if you can adjust your display resolution. Save settings and then reboot to normal mode.
