By Jim Dower: Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield came up empty on Saturday night against journeyman Sherman Williams when their fight ended in a three round no contest after the 48-year-old Holyfield suffered a bad cut from a clash of heads that he, surprisingly, didn’t initiate. Holyfield was cut by the 38-year-old Williams in the 2nd round, and was badly hurt by a big right hand from Williams in the 3rd round. Had the fight gone into the 4th, Holyfield may have been knocked out because he looked hurt and gassed. Holyfield looked more than his age by the 3rd round. Holyfield didn’t look like he wanted to continue and face Williams in the 4th. It’s sad but Holyfield looked like couldn’t handle Williams’ power and precise punching.

I did not see the fight (?) thank God.........maybe Holyfield will now quit once and for all before he is seriously hurt.

Holyfield was limping around the ring like a wounded duck in the 3rd and wouldn't have made it thru the 4th..Now he's possibly talking re-match???Bwahahahaha..

They should pay us to see that spectacle. I think the hole show was a disaster.

I watched the fight also and he used the cut to quit the fight. If it were a gusher and blood was all over the place I would understand but I did not see the bleeding to stop the fight. The whole spectacle was a disgrace for the sport being it was a ppv.I feel sorry for those who payed but I watched because my ps put it on.So indirectly I ended up paying for it.I wonder if all ppv will have live music in between fights.I was about to quit watching because it was late and the fight wouldnt start.

the best thing about this whole spectacle was the go go girls dancing between rounds

a prime example of why this sport has lost its fire, show, pizzaz, however you want to put it. why would anyone even pay to watch this. we all seen holyfield in many epic battles years ago. it would be clear his prime fighting has been long past.....so much for his comeback and chance to fight kiltcho. the things aging sports figures will do for money.
