Scotland loses an Icon in music
It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of John Mason. M.B.E. of the world famous Scottish Fiddle Orchestra
As their tour Manager for Canada and the US i am sad at this great loss
I had the Orchestra come to Canada and the US in 1997. 1999 and in 2005.
John had been ill for some time, he passed away on Saturday January 22nd 2011 in the early hours of the morning.
john was the founder and principal conductor of the Orchestra, and continued to write music, just prior to his passing.
He will be missed by many, his music will live on, as will his memory.
I am very proud to have known him, and to be a friend of John and his family.
