Will this decision, if allowed to stand, affect those who use IKS ?

The CRTC seems to have a mandate to protect Bell & Rogers and other gigantic companies while forcing out competition. It rarely seems that CRTC ever considers the interests of Canadian citizens.
sorry if I am highjacking this thread but I dont know where to ask, as we have seen in the past, if Bell and Rogers want something they will get it eventually, when you have the members of the CRTC in your back pocket becuase they are former employees doesnt hurt LOL

the CRTC has kept US competition in the phone , satellite, internet market out of Canada to protect Bell and Rogers business for far too long

is it possible to get US based internet (say 4G wireless) in Canada and not have to worry about this pending highway robbery?

No its not as soon as you leave your country or area of coverage you get hit with roaming charges that make rodgers and bels rates look cheap.LOL

Thanks

The only way out is to vote for a goverment that will put Bell at it's place. To me,Bell is the CRTC.When that goverment is elected, they have to put their pants on and fire all the bozos running the CRTC and investigate them.We pay these peaple and they never ever looked at the citizen's point of vue.

Bell and Rogers are two parts of Duopoly in socialisticaly ran Canadian democracy. I personally think they are so deep inside the government that no matter who we vote for, it will stay just the way it's been for decades. Or should I say centuries??..lol

yep sure looks to me like Bell and Rogers had some behind doors meetings to cook this up to keep other companies out of the phone/internet/media business

No politcal party has ever had the balls to put Bell in its place.

Just like a spoilt child since Bell has to pay out a bunch of money for breaking the rules of the DO Not Call list that they are paid to manage, they are throwing a tantrum

I can throw a tantrum too, cancelled my bell phone service today and will use my magicjack for my phone needs

its pathetic, I live 10 miles outside of London ON (pop 450,000) and no dsl service because Bell wont change the switches to allow DSL in my village, cause then I might be able to sign up for dsl through a small supplier

and until Bell is the only dsl provider left they probably never will either

Bill

rant complete LOL

I seen this elsewhere on the net, and I think that it is wrong to do that to paying customers.

The CRTC has hit Bell a couple of times lately.
Personally, I hope the UBB ruling will increase the bandwidth cap else I will have to switch to another ISP.

problem is if ubb goes thru switching isp;'s will do no good as all isp will drop their cap and charge us more

I hope Netflix will win the legal battle against CRTC. Right now only Netflix provides good entertaiment for resonable price in Canada.

in my case, my isp throttles any large download, so netflix wont work for me

they call it burst and sustained speed

my burst is 500k and sustained is 100k so netflixz and streamning is out

gotta love canadian isp's

The Big Guys won't stop until They get the ruling to Their favor. They have dedicated employees on This and closed door meetings with CRTC. I was with Bell and Their customer approach is simply...

if the crtc was really about protecting the consumer, they would tell Bell to pound salt and let US isps' in, then finally we would see value for our buck, ah hell while we are at it, might as well wish for our market to be opened to us satellite providers too LOL
