Daytona 500 (Race 1 of 36)

Welcome Race Fans to the second annual 2011 Satfix NASCAR Pool.

Congrats to mental for winning the preseason Budweiser Shootout.

The race this weekend is the Daytona 500 at Daytona.

Coverage begins Sunday February 20 at 1:00PM EST. The deadline for picks will be 30 minutes prior to the drop of the green flag.

After qualifying the driver tier list will be edited to reflect those who did not qualify. All drivers who do not qualify will be highlighted in red

Be sure to make yourself familiar with the NASCAR Pool Rules and Regulations (http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?48215-2011-NASCAR-Pool-Rules-and-Regulations).

Make sure that you pick three drivers from tier 1, three drivers from tier 2, and four drivers from tier 3.

Make sure that you post both the driver's name and car number to eliminate any confusion.

Make sure that you pick the lap closest the the first caution lap for a tie breaker.

If I might make a suggestion, you might want to wait until the qualifing order has been established before you make your picks....you might find yourself modifying some of your tier 3 selections as they might not make it in the race.

Todays qualifications were for the top 2 spots only the rest was for defermining the field for the qualifying races this Thursday.

Also just FYI...you do not need to include the manufacturers name in you selection, driver name and car number is sufficient. Save some wear and tare on your keyboard. :)

You can (out of town, cannot be on the site, etc), but ideally you will want to wait until after qualifying, because the drivers you pick might not qualify well or not at all.

what i do is copy all the tiers of post #1 then copy & paste to Notepad (click Start>All Programs>Accessories-Notepad ) and delete/select my entries. hope this help.

Here is what I would do...

If you are simply typing the car numbers and drivers names in while you are posting, just sipmply hit enter after each one, and that will layer them down like everyone has posted.

Now if you want to you can also have you post window open, and then use your side bar to slid the window back up to the top of the page and copy and paste from my original post (similar to what eyeQ has stated), but that only works if you are posting early....so you could open another window on your PC so you could alternate back and forth.

For me, I have my excel spread sheet that keeps track of everyone's picks. I make my picks there first, then transfer them to my post here.

Hope that helps....if not ask more questions and someone here will get you savy with that PC :D

So we do not get confused....I only need a selection for the first caution lap.

I only use the last caution lap for special events like the bud shootout, and all star races because we are only selection one driver.

Sorry buckets88 to use your post as an example, but you bring up a good point for some of our NASCAR pool Noobees!!!:D

Side Note.....

Considering the change this year with NASCAR Rules as far as points and delaration of which series you are running for a championship we had a slight delimia in the points for a few drivers, including 21 Trevor Bayne.

Due to the fact the 21 Trevor Bayne has declared that he was running for the championship in the Nationwide series, he officially gets 0 points for winning todays Daytona 500.....yea BS!!!

So for those of you that choose 21 Trevor Bayne you got 47 points (as per NASCAR's points system for drivers that win the race).

Those 47 points are based on this...

43 points for 1st place + 3 bonus points for winning + 1 bonus point for leading a lap.

Similar situation for those that choose Brian Keslowski, or any other non Nextel Cup series runner.
