Cobra...
Wanna see him wave that clause ? Offer him up to the Canuks..they are hurting for defensemen right now esp an offensive one like Kaberle would fit right into their system. With all the Europeans he`d feel right at home---I`m thinking Kaberle, somebody else for Cody Hodgson, sounds like a plan to me, what the hell, let`s dump Kadri on them while we`re at it.

as per TSN

Despite reports to the contrary on Tuesday afternoon, Toronto Maple Leaf Tomas Kaberle has not waived the no-trade clause on his contract.

However, the veteran defenceman has indicated to Leafs general manager Brian Burke that Boston may be a potentially favourable location for the veteran blueliner to go to.

While Burke does not need permission from Kaberle to talk to other teams, he will need the blueliner's permission to trade him.

And while a deal with the Bruins may well be worked out, Kaberle may or may not provide Burke with another potential landing spot if a deal with Boston cannot be worked out.

The 32-year-old native of the Czech Republic has been a mainstay on the Leafs blueline for the past decade and is second-highest scoring defenceman in franchise history - behind only Borje Salming - with 83 goals and 435 assists in 876 games, all with the Maple Leafs.

Kaberle leads the Leafs in assists this season with 33 to go along with three goals in 56 games. He was originally selected in the eighth round, 204th overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

Ha ha - the joke might be on me, they have now removed the BREAKING NEWS banner. ugghhhh. However, I do think that a trade is imminent. There is too much chatter going on for a deal not to be in the making.

Yes but which first round - they would have thier own and Toronto's.

It would be Boston`s first pick--not the Kessel deal.

Well if he gets pulled then we will know for sure. How hard is he practising?

That would mean the approx 26th pic in this years draft as of today.

well burkie said, this ain't a one team deal with kabby. he's gonna shop him around to any team thats interested, then persent the offer to kabby. so really kaberle could go anywhere if the deal is there.

I hope they get something good in return if they trade him.

My prediction would be someone that can be inserted in the line up now and a first round pick. Another big forward like Lupul would be a nice fit.

this just posted today by nhl.com media person. perhaps just media speculation.....but colburn?? don't like it....could very well, be a flower waiting to wilt. a number 1 pick is nice, however as burkie said...you don't see these guys for 3 years. kaberle is worth more than a colburn.....

Tomas Kaberle (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8465200) has been pretty steadfast in the past few seasons about not wanting to waive his no-trade clause. However, as he nears the end of the final year of the deal, and with the Leafs on the fringe of playoff contention, could he have softened his stance?

TSN and the Boston Globe are reporting that he has, and a trade of the blueliner to the Bruins is imminent.

Going back to the Leafs, if the rumors are true, would be top prospect Joe Colborne (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8474577) and the Bruins' first-round pick. For clarity's sake, it's the Bruins' own pick, not the one they got last season from the Leafs in the Phil Kessel (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8473548) deal.

If that's truly the deal, it would be a win/win deal. Boston gets an elite offensive defenseman that will bring desperately needed punch to their blueline -- Kaberle has 38 points this season; only Zdeno Chara (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8465009) has more than 25 among Bruins defensemen.

In return, the Leafs would get a real solid center prospect in Colborne, the 16th pick of the 2008 Entry Draft currently playing with AHL Providence. The 6-foot-5, 190-pounder has 26 points in 55 games in his first pro season.

well it happened. kabby to boston for colburne and a 1st rounder and conditional 2nd.

now the leafs got cap room and lots of beer in the fridge! thats the way to rebuild. can't wait to see what burkie is going to do with his stock come this deadline or in the off season.

Buffalo has offered Brian Burke free Tim Hortons for a month for Kabby, throw in a dozen doughnuts and you have a deal......lol

Yup---and it sounds like a win-win deal for both teams like chuckt mentioned in another thread. Don`t expect this deal as a final stop in these players and draft choices---Burke will be throwing caution to the wind trying to get Braden Schenn out of the LA Kings.
