At this point the only answer is a matter of opinion. For the masses who enjoyed N2 stand alone, my opinion is that will never happen on such a scale again.

Not a chance, too many peeps making money this way. Standalones are a thing of the past. It is unfortunate, but that is the way it is.

I have no doubt that there are underground fixes out there, but I feel that is where they will stay. Too many legal issues involved for anyone to go public.

There are free options out there, depending on the kind of programming you want... There's always true FTA, with lots of free channels and feeds, with a big dish there are hundreds of channels. It is more of a hobby though, setting up the equipment requires more knowledge of satellite systems than say setting up a small dish system for DN or Bell.

Of course there's also over the air TV, and the quality of the HD signal is very good.
