Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas - The weights are in for tomorrow night. WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel (44-2-2, 34KOs) stepped on scale, ripped and ready, and was 118-pounds on the nose. Challenger Nonito Donaire (25-1, 17KOs). stepped on the scale next and was also in excellent shape, weighing in at the division limit of 118-pounds.
Some of the fighters in the house include Marco Antonio Barrera, Jorge Arce, Antonio Margarito and Juan Manuel Lopez.
In the HBO televised co-feature, welterweight Jesus Soto-Karass (24-5, 16KOs) was 146-pounds, while undefeated Mike Jones (23-0, 18KOs) was 147 at the limit.

They better fight Ponce De Leon first. Juanma Lopez will kill them both. It will be a good fight, Donaire is in his prime time, tall and fighting smaller men.

It really wasn't power, just to much of a fighter for the mexican. Youth, hight, speed and inteligence took over the ring last night. The filipino is better than I thought. Lets see if he doesn't lose any of that talent going up in weight. More like his fellow filipino boxer Gabriel Flash Elorde. Cheers for the Pinoy boxer.
