Former champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley doesn't believe he actually left Golden Boy Promotions, as many have reported. Mosley was a partner in the company. In his opinion, Golden Boy kicked him out when he made a decision to hold a meeting with Top Rank's CEO, Bob Arum, in order to cut a deal for a Manny Pacquiao fight on May 7. After he reached a deal to face Pacquiao, Mosley claims Golden Boy sent him a severance check for a few thousand dollars.
"Actually, I didn't really leave [Golden Boy], I think I was kicked out. I thought that it was necessary for me to go to Bob Arum and talk to him myself with my own promotional company, Sugar Shane Mosley Promotions, and make the fight happen," Mosley told BoxingScene.com's Ernest Gabion.
Regarding the fight, Mosley thinks the critics who believe that it's going to be an easy fight for Pacquiao "are crazy."
"I just they're crazy. They don't know what they're talking about. I think he's made for my style and it's going to be an action-packed fight. You have to fighters who want to make the fans enjoy the fight," Mosley said.
