Volunteers with the Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center of Denver caught the bird just before 11 a.m. at the lake at Garland Park in Denver.
Goose catcher Scott Coddington of Colorado Springs said he nabbed the bird with a string foot snare.
"It looks to be OK," he said.
The bird rescuers gave the male goose antibiotics and cut the arrow off at the ends.
The goose was treated by Dr. Jerry LaBonde, a veterinarian who specializes in birds at Homestead Animal Hospital.
"He is doing great," LaBonde said after the surgery to remove the arrow.
The hospital plans to hold on to the goose for a day or two as a

Volunteer Gabrielle Wimers said people have been concerned about the goose for a long while and never gave up on helping it.
"We have been following (the goose) since Washington Park," she said. It "flew off from Washington Park to Garland Park and has been here ever since."
She said that after the goose is treated and deemed healed, it will be released into the wild.
"He is a very smart goose," she said. "He outsmarted everybody for a month."
