this guy should retire, he has absolutly nothing left anymore... he is a washout.. period.. pacquiao will retire mosely in the fight, i cant see it lasting anymore then 4 rounds with mosely out on his back... Mosely is just fighting off his name alone now, everyone hopeing that the old sugar shane will show up for the fight, and this will be slim to no chance... Lennox lewis said it right when he commented, its better to go out on top, then staying the game to long to ruin your name and legacy... mosely is doing this, jones jr as well.. and evander holyfield... this guys should hang up the gloves, before they get seriously injured... I havent seen pacquiao fighting a quality opponent yet... all washouts, with the exception of cotto.. All the fighters pac is facing are all taylor made for him. they come straight ahead with no movement, and are all brawlers... I want to see pac in the ring against BERTO. THose are the fights that should be made,, why is mosely in the seat for a title match, he lost against floyd, and draw against mora... That in no way deservs a shot against pac...

Boxing has evolved to what it is today. Historically, the sanctioning bodies (WBO, WBA, etc.) had great clout. They controlled the sport and made it exciting by setting up matches in accordance to world rankings. However, as great boxers like Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Ali, Teofilo Stevenson, Trinidad, etc. all retired, few took their places. Because these sanctioning bodies made their money through "fees" they collected on sanctioned bouts, their revenues started to dwindle. Then came Don King and Bob Arum and a few others. They started searching and recruiting prospective talented boxers. Like ERA's in baseball, athletes' performance was measured against statistics: batting average, shooting percentage, and yes, you guessed it - in boxing, by their win/loss/KO records. Their "ranking" no longer mattered. The public was sold by their "undefeated" records although they were fighting against tomato cans, beer barrels, and hamburger buns. It was the only way promoters could make money. The media and the sanctioning bodies fell for this marketing ploy.
True boxing fans were taken for a ride. Soon King and Arum were joined by Dela Hoya. Most title holders now see some ways to make money after their glory days - become a promoter like Cotto and Mosley.
So why is Mosley fighting? (1) For an outside chance of beating the world's best pound-for-pound boxer, and (2) for the millions he will make.
Between "legacy" and millions which would you rather have if you were Mosley?

You said it all, this is to measure Pac's ability in a possible fight with Floyd Jr.
he lost against floyd,

Looks like Roach has been doing the picking for Pacman...Berto would make an excellent opponent, but not to Roach's liking of course, the only One so far that I've seen offer a fight against Pacman is Marquez, and The man has made It clear many times, He ain't retiring until He fights Pacquiao once again!...the fact that He's fought through the ranks and worked his way back up once again, would inevitably have his way and finally meet Pacman sooner that later....And I'm really looking forward for this One!!....Marquez would have to devour bucket loads of his own piss to endure this One!!....

I have to agree with fibroso on this. This fight was made to measure up how well Pac does againts him so then you can compare it to the loss mosley had againts mayweather.

I agree,,,, Manny could have done better than picking Shane. Shane has had his chances. Others are more deserving..
But as Aquarius said,,, its all about names,,,, not rankings... Ring magazine has the most accurate ratings, but it makes
no difference. People know Shane much more than they know Berto. Plus Manny might be throwing Shane a bone... who knows?
Got so many championships out there, if yer a good fighter,,, you will probably be champ of one of em..
So Shane still has a chance.
Hey,,, how about a Marquez vs Cotto matchup...
now that would be a great match... if they could do the weight...

The problem is marquez did not get a fight with pacquiao because he wanted a catchwieght at 143 if I am not mistaken. He could not make at 147 so at 154 its not happening with cotto.

stevenson retired and was given a goat. carp all you want about pacquiao fighting mosley. the look at the top 10. mayweather's there of course. bradley and berto.....ho-hum. maybe berto might be interesting. does anyone want to see pacquiao fight senchenko, jackiewicz or zaveck. nope. clottey. been there.
mosley is still a top 5 welterweight and as such more than qualifies for a title shot. if mayweather can't be made, there's no need for pacquiao to keep reaching higher vs martinez etc

Was just a thought on the Marquez vs Cotto at 147..... Marquez did 147 against Mayweather... but it really slowed him down. Of course Mayweather is really fast and did
not come in... Cotto a different style fighter.
And then you have the never ending Mexican vs Puerto Rican pride, so maybe both fighters would want to come at each other.
Funny no promoter has even mentioned this matchup. We are running outta options here.
Meantime, everyone just keeps getting older, and we keep getting the same run of the mill fighters over and over again.
I'm just waiting for De La Hoya to mount a comeback.... ala Sugar Ray Leonard. I think Leonard retired and came back 3 times.
But then Oscar is no Sugar Ray.

Cotto will only go down to fight Manny for the rematch. That is with no catch "drain" weight. Marquez has no chance of beating the Boricua. His style is candy for Cotto. Now southpaw fighters are his specialty, leading with the right hand to the face and combining with the left hook. That's how he beat the hell out of Manny. Before the inexplicable growth.

Marquez Vs. Cotto...Hmm Interesting enough, mind You both fighters have different styles, plus Puerto Rican-Mexican Factor is included in the Bout, which in turn means more $$$...I'd Go for That!!...Marquez is at the brink of taking whatever comes along Now that He's back on top and The Age Factor ain't helping either!!..I'd Vote for It!!

Totally agree it would be a great matchup... both fighters aren't afraid to mix it up..
I just wonder why this match has never even been talked about?
If both fighters came in at 147,, i would go out on a limb and take Marquez.
Mainly because he hits harder than Cotto. But,,, could go either way.
I think both fighters would go down.
Hmmm,,, lemmee email Arum.

Marquez is not comfortable fighting at 147 its as simple as that.If not he would of fought pacquiao but instead was asking for a catchweight in the range of 143 if I am not mistaken.

You're Right Bro, He was asking for That!!...He just doesn't want to climb up!!....

I would say with an offer of $100 million, it is Mayweather that is the one that is running. That is not even a realistic offer. I can't see how anyone can say Manny is running because he won't fight for free.
I think it should be something like a 65/35 split to the winner and also a million dollars per round, off the top, to the person that is the aggressor of that round.

I agree with you Chido.... Marquez not comfortable there... but Marquez is very greedy.... he will not fight in Mexico because he says they dont offer him what he is worth...
So for the right amount of money,,, he will get comfortable at that weight... he would even fight Cotto in Puerto Rico for the right amount.
After all,,, money talks,, and Marquez walks.
I like Marquez as a fighter... but his attitude needs and adjustment. I was kinda glad to see Mayweather kick his ass.

Guess you just said it, cause I haven't even mention that. Things start from the top and go down, the right amount is on the way. It's Floyd who started the bid, lets see if someone follows with an offer.
